Rated 5 out of 5 by from These pants are pants Great pants, perfect for hiking and exploring! Everything I wanted in a pair of zip-offs, except for a side zipper on the bottom of the pants for making it easier to get over shoes. No big deal though, everything else fits and looks great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Oversized Legs and Extremely Thin Material Well I read these were the #1 hiking pants on Switchback Travel so decided to buy them without ever trying them on beforehand. Boy was that a mistake. The material is super light-weight, thin and stretchy so would only be ideal for hiking in hot conditions. I can't imagine you could wear them very long before they ripped on something. The material is so thin it is like practically wearing nothing at all. And the lower portion of the pants are extremely big. They are just as big as the upper portion of the legging for your thighs. You would think the legging portion around your calves would taper down a bit, but nope, it's like wearing bell bottom pants. Also the zipper portion of the pants is below your knees. So when you are wearing them as shorts, it's like wearing capris.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants for backpacking/hiking/camping/daily use I love these pants. They are very durable, very lightweight, and somewhat water resistant. Even when they do get wet, they dry very quickly. I've used them kayaking, backpacking and hiking. They are comfortable look good too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Investing in a second pair for lightweight travelling! Now my favorite pair of shorts, can't wait to travel with these convertibles as well. Incredibly lightweight, extremely comfortable and breathable. Time will tell on the durability but so far they're holding up well. I'll be investing in one more pair of these for minimalist travelling. Very well constructed, super pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moving on to my 4th Pair These are my all purpose pant. Warm or cold weather, they beat the wind in most conditions. I usually hike in these down to 30 F, and then add a base layer under if it's much colder. Rain pant over the too if it's really wet. I also add an insulated pant over while in camp or in long breaks while snowshoeing when I'm not moving. Otherwise, this is all I wear year-round. I'm in my 4th pair only because of catching on rusty nails or the pick of an ice axe, otherwise I've gotten 4 years of heavy use out if them

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super versatile backpacking/climbing pants The Ferrosi pants are my new favorite backpacking and climbing pants. My Prana Stretch Zions were the pants to beat, and the Ferrosi manages to eek out a victory. Positives: SUPER stretchy fabric means I can back step, high knee my way up a route with no restriction to movement. Very lightweight material doesn't feel hot and breathes well. DWR finish is great for repelling moisture. However, this does mean these pants won't block as much wind as heavier pants (like the Zion). The construction quality is excellent, and the color coded zippers for the detachable legs is a nicely thought out feature. Negatives: I definitely wish the front pockets on these pants were deeper, and the leg cargo pockets a bit bigger. Things feel like they'll fall out of the front pockets, and the back/cargo pockets are too small to fit any significant amount of gear. The 1 size fit all inseam length (32") seems like an oversight. My gf hemmed mine in, so it ended up working ok, but more lengths would've been nice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So close to greatness... I'm a former backcountry guide. I now backpack with my kids, and get out pretty much every weekend, and on 3 or for extended trips each year. I really wanted to love these pants. But going from 32 to 34...I'm in between and they slide off. If you had more sizing options or perhaps some elastic to bridge the sizing gap. Also, the convertible zipper still sways like a hoop skirt banging my legs when I walk. A lighter weight zipper might do the trick. Needs to not feel like it's there. Generally, though, LOVE OR gear. Keep innovating! Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Pants Ever! I love these pants! I've had a pair of the regular Ferosi pants for a couple years and they were my favorites. Decided to get the ones with the zip off legs for a backpacking trip. It poured rain and the rain pants I had over them were old and didn't work. When it stopped raining, I took the rain pants off and the ferosis were soaked. They dried faster than any gear I've ever had. I definitely recommend these pants.
