Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor fit, sub-optimal durability, lack of pit vents,,,, Overall a reasonably put together jacket, but lack of some crucial features just doesn't really make this jacket a winner for me. The Goretex Active material breathes well if you do your best to keep the shell clean and immaculate, but as soon as the DWR wears off or the jacket gets dirty, the material wets out it doesn't breathe well at all making the lack of pit zips very apparent. The overall fit of the hood is great if you're wearing a helmet, but without one the hood is comically huge, and the adjustment toggle on the back does a poor job keeping the hood from sliding down my eyes or up off my head. The brim is re-enforced with what appears to be plastic-coated copper wire which will break and poke through the goretex material and cause tearing of the hood. Despite being 5'11" and fitting well in other large-sized shirts and jackets, I had to order the next size up to get enough sleeve and torso length. This has unfortunately never been one of those jackets that I've ever been to forget I'm wearing and feel super comfortable in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good - but one major flaw Overall a great jacket. Fits like a glove and really lightweight. I have used it for many different activities - backcountry skiing, downhill skiing, hiking, casual wear. There is one thing that I cannot get past. I may run a little hot, but I had a very thin layer (highly breathable) and the Axiom on top. I was working hard and sweating. Regretfully, the jacket now smells and has retained the BO smell. I have tried all washing products but the smell returns with minimal exertion. It's really unfortunate and will likely have to return it if the smell doesn't wash out. Pit zips would be great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Hardshell I really love this jacket. I like it especially because a lot of newer technical hardshells only go down to your waist, resulting in uncomfortable wet spots, but this jacket covers those areas. Has a solid feel (though I tore a sleeve on jagged steel). Very good DWR finish. I'd buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I took my new Axiom jacket on a trial run today. The conditions were hard rain and a temperature of 44°. I did a 4.2 mile hike round-trip with 1100 feet elevation gain. I wore a long sleeve V-neck light fleece underneath the jacket. The jacket performed extremely well today. I was concerned because this jacket did not have any pit zips. Every shell I have owned in the past had pit zips. Much to my surprise this coat without pit zips was no issue. When I was done with the hike there was absolutely no condensation inside the jacket everything that I had underneath was dry including items in the pockets. I never felt overheated in this jacket. The hood of the jacket was also a good surprise. I started out wearing a beanie and after a mile I took it off. I was able to adjust the hood with the cords inside and it fit perfectly on my head and felt like I was wearing cap. The sleeves were a bit long but on this hike it turned out to be a blessing. I opened up the sleeves and they fell right down over my gloves and kept them dry. With a small adjustment of the wristbands they fit very comfortably when I needed to adjust the sleeves . It should be noted that I bought an EX-LG Axiom. I am 5'10" 200 pounds. My waist is 38, chest 45 and hips 44. I know the jacket is listed as slim fit but for my physique the extra large fit perfectly with the exception of the extra long sleeves which were not a problem anyway. The breathability of this coat was better than any Gore-Tex I have ever owned. I do a lot of backcountry hiking so the extra light weight 14 ounces was a plus. This jacket is a great lightweight Gore-Tex shell. I highly recommend the stack. I highly recommend the Axiom. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT Hi there, I have to admit my mistake regarding this jacket. My first review of this jacket was wrong just because of size. I ordered M, but i needed L. So, now with the proper size I could tell you is an excellent jacket, wich breath very well, keep the wind away, waterproof and very light. Thank you OR and forgive my mistake. Yes, I would recommend this jacket to anyoane out there. Please put this comment under my first review to correct it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good for everything but rain I bought this jacket as my do it all shell for an alpine climbing trip to El Chalten, Argentina, a region known for inclement weather. This jacket has an amazing fit, is flexible, light weight and fairly durable but the gore tex active fabric is not waterproof for extended periods of rain. The shoulders and hood wet-out after more than 30 minutes of rain fall and unfortunately the fabric does not dry as quickly as my climbing partner's 3 ply, gore tex, lightweight jacket from a competing company. I contacted OR about the fabric and they recomended treating with Nikwax products which I did and unfortunately the result is the same. Overall the jacket is perfect for snowy alpine routes and drippy ice climbs but look elsewhere if your primary concern is staying dry on the approach to those routes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the best. I've used the Axiom as my primary shell for about five years and it's been perfect for skiing, moutaineering, ice climbing, and even a rain shell (if it's chilly out). It's very comfortable with surprisingly soft (and quiet) fabric, breathable beyond comprehension, and has repelled everything I or nature has thrown at it yet. All that and it packs down very small into its own pocket and doesn't have unnecessary features. With breathability this good, who needs pit zips!?

Measuring Guide & Fit Styles

To get the most accurate measurement, use a flexible measuring tape and use the measuring guide info below.

• CHEST / BUST - measure under your arms around the fullest part of your chest.

• WAIST - measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.

• HIPS - measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.

• INSEAM - choose a pair of pants that fits you well and is true to size, hitting at the top of the foot. Measure the inseam from crotch seam to the bottom of the hem.

• HATS - measure around your head where the headwear would be expected to fit comfortably.

The OR fit styles detailed below are determined by intended usage and sport-specific design. All OR outerwear and apparel is categorized into one of these fit styles. You can find more info about the fit of a style in the product FEATURES or SPECIFICATIONS.

• TRIM FIT - close-cut apparel that moves with the wearer.

• STANDARD FIT - a looser fit for comfort in both technical and casual apparel.

• RELAXED FIT - baggy-cut layers designed for the wearer to move within.
