Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best midlayer ever! From freezing cold ice climbing days to spring ski days the Ascendant was the perfect mid layer. My next to skin layer would change depending on the day however the Ascendant always played its part in providing warmth and breathability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love My Jacket This jacket is light but warm. Hardly feels like you are wearing a jacket. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent (but delicate) jacket I bought this as a light, wind-stopping layer - and absolutely love it. Warmer than its weight would suggest and keeps the wind out. I'm 6'1, 170 lbs, very lean/athletic build and the medium fits me like a glove. Only downside is the light fabrics used don't seem too durable, and I've heard of problems with stitching staying in on the low denier Pertex. As always, there are tradeoffs between weight and durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super soft, warm but breathable I needed a packable jacket that could work for spring/fall in Chicago. This jacket is perfect. The fit is great. The Alpha insulation is really soft and breathes fluidly. Buy the jacket. You will love it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nearly the perfect Colorado light acket, but has fatal flaw I have been looking for the perfect Colorado jacket-- light, packable, wind-proof, water-resistant, and warm enough to work in chillier mornings jogging, hiking, warm weather skiing, wearing to work. This jacket is so close, but there is one fatal flaws and one problem. The pros-- I like the slim fit, light weight, and the fact that it is packable. It works really well across a range of temperatures teens - forties. The Fatal Flaw: The two hand pockets do not have zippers. It only has one zipped pocket, this is big enough for a phone, but not much else. The have a clip for key in the non-zipped pocket, but this doesn't really work, key flops out when running. This means you can't ski in the jacket. It also reduces its usefulness as a casual jacket for taking hikes with the kids, where do you keep the snacks? The negative: It could be more windproof. The wind cuts through the non-zipped pockets and elbows. This also makes it less useful for biking and skiing. I am not expecting gore wind-stopper, but the inconsistency in wind protection is marked. So in the end, this is so close, I am still looking for the perfect Colorado light jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice peace for all sorts of activity Great jacket and I do have the Vest as well. At first I was a little worried as it is a little bulky but that is not so . It packs well too. The best is that it is great for all sorts of activities from climbing to skiing. Great pocket placement and feels really good with the inside being like fleece. The outside makes no noise while moving and I do like that. For cons I said not waterproof, but it is not meant to be waterproof, it is windproof and that is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket. I wear it all the time. I have been using this jacket since January and I love it. It is extremely lightweight and performs in a large temperature range. I live in New Hampshire and have skinned with it at 0 F with a large windchill, skied with it in the 20's to 30's, and worn it to walk the dog in the 30's to 50's. It is very comfortable and I love how soft the fleece is against your skin. I don't miss zippers on the hand warmer pockets and they are nice and deep so I feel comfortable stowing keys in them when I am running errands. The outer layer provides very good wind resistance and also sheds light rain well. When skinning I found that it was warm and I did have some moisture on me (but I think this is actually due to a thicker base layer). All in all I love this jacket and want my wife to get one as well. I am 5' 10" 150 lbs and the medium is a perfect fit.
