The Outdoor Research Isolation HD Pack is an ultralight pack for moving fast on the day hike. Whether you're tackling a 14er or heading into town for the day, this'll carry the essentials. A water-resistant exterior with led helps shed light moisture like a little sprinkling of rain, so you can make it to shelter before the real rain starts to fall. Thin straps drop weight while a webbing hipbelt and sternum strap prevent unwanted side-to-side movement. Mesh side pockets carry water bottles or a quick snack, while the interior can carry even more snacks and extra layers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Underrated Pack I started looking at this pack a year ago and after a trip to Patagonia where I finally realized the importance of a light day pack, I took the plunge and ordered the OR Isolation HD Pack. I have been using this pack for everything! I use it to go to the climbing gym, for my gym bag on workout nights, for my bike rides to the farmers market and grocery store; the list goes on. I love this pack! Now, why is it underrated? When I was finally ready to take the plunge, I looked all over for reviews and couldn't find a one! OR didn't have a video review, Outdoor Gear Lab didn't have a review, for some reason I was just not finding much information. Luckily, my love for OR was enough for me to look past this. Like all OR gear, this pack is simple and functional. It's super light weight, Very comfortable and does what I expected it to. It doesn't have a hydration capability which wasn't important to me but what it does have is a small interior pocket that is nice for storing small valuables. The back is padded which gives the pack some support and the brain pocket doubles as a stuff sack for the pack itself. The side pockets securely fit a Nelgene bottle in each and pack straps are very well ventilated yet strong enough for what you would use this light pack for. The only thing I would really have liked to see on this pack would have been a place to attach ice axes/ice tool or hiking poles. Other packs on the market seem to incorporate attachment points but OR chose not to with this one. Also, I'm a big fan of G Hooks over the Side Release Buckle everyone uses... Most companies don't use G Hooks but it would have been cool to see it as the prime closure but the Side Release Buckles have always worked fine, just personal preference. Apart from that small complaint, this is a great all around pack that I keep falling in love with and will be with me for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack for day trips I use this product everyday for work and it is great! It fits well when I'm commuting on my bike and when I'm out for short hikes. There's only one interior pocket but it's a good size to help keep things organized.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect day pack I've found the Isolation HD to be nearly spot-on. I call it minimalist+, which is my sweet spot. Lightweight, but a couple of extras so it's not just a single sack hanging on my back. I can pack a lot into 19 liters when I need to, but when I'm just carrying phone, keys, snack and water I barely know it's there. But water is the weak link. There is no suspension for a water bladder, or a path for routing the tube. The pack needs about 3" of .25" webbing and a side release clip to hang the bladder, and a small "lidded" hole to route the tube. Added weight: 5grams. Added functionality - a ton.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great small pack! This is a great little bag! I don't know how to say it any other way. It has all the space you need for the essentials and helps you cut down on the fluff. Very simple with good zippers and stiching. I'm probably going to have to buy another one because my girlfriend keeps "borrowing" mine!
