Rewards Program Terms and Conditions
Last updated January 1st, 2020
Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.
Leaving Moosejaw Rewards Program:
You may choose to leave the Moosejaw Rewards program at any time by logging in and clicking on the “Opt out Rewards Program” link within the My Account Summary page, Email, calling 877-MOOSEJAW (877-666-7352) or in-store with help from our employees. If you leave the rewards program, any unused MJ$ will be voided upon completion of your request.
Earning MJ$:
All items we sell are eligible with the exception of gift cards or other items specifically noted. Full-priced items earn 10% back while discounted items earn 2.5%. "Discounted items" includes items on sale or discounted via coupon code or use of MJ$. You do not earn MJ$ for shipping or tax charges, only from the item value. MJ$ expire two years after earning and are redeemed on a first-in, first out basis (in other words, we always use your oldest MJ$ that are closest to expiration).
Checking & Redeeming MJ$:
On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. In stores, provide the email address attached to your account to learn your balance and apply to your purchase. We will also send you a monthly email that details your balance and other account activity. This is a transactional email that you will receive even if you are not subscribed to our marketing emails.
Bonus Rewards Promotions:
Every so often, we'll have special offers where you can earn bonus MJ$, like an additional 10%, 20% or 40% back. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. Make sure to check us out on our social channels for other ways to win some extra MJ$!
MJ$ on Gift Cards:
You don't get earn MJ$ when you buy a gift card, but you do get MJ$ when you spend a gift card. Sorry gift givers. You're welcome gift receivers.
Product Returns and MJ$:
If you return an item, we deduct the MJ$ earned on that item from your balance. If you used the MJ$ and your balance is less than deduction, then your refund is reduced by the difference.
Program Abuse:
The intent of the program is to provide our loyal customers with a way to buy great gear for less. Moosejaw reserves the right to remove any user from the program and zero out their MJ$ balance if Moosejaw determines that the user is abusing the program by buying for resale, attempting to game the program or any other reason at Moosejaw's sole discretion.

As advertisedThis recently arrived for me and is definitely what I’ll be using backpacking. I’ve been using a tarp so far, so I’m excited to have the extra bug and water protection

Been around bur recently recognized as the New StandardI have the previous version, the "heavier" 18 ounce one. The review should cover 95% of what the new one is, with the exception of the newer, similar material and the even lower weight. What can I say? I like to hike from dusk to dawn. The last thing I want when I get to camp is to have to fiddle with poles, guy lines, stakes, site finding, etc. For a U/L 3 to 4 day trip, like the ones I do, or even for the Hyperlight thru-hiker crowd, this is where is at. TOTAL Weather protection, I have even used this in Winter Conditions on the AT without any problems. If you hang your food bag, your small pack will fit at the bottom or spread around near the head in the corners. I usually leave the shoes outside semi-covered in a bag. If you are a dude bring an empty 32 oz Gatorade to be used as a pee bottle, it works! You barely need to stake it out or guy it. I sometimes hike with a tarp-poncho combo (if rain dumps are in the forecast) and use it as a vestibule at the head by triangulating the 2 hiking poles with a little clip atop the Helium's semicircular pole at the head. You can then proceed to guy/stake out 2 corners of the now tarp away from the head. The only thing I could wish for, and no, it is not a negative, is if they made a more squarish-footprint version so that I could maybe fit something like a 25 inch wide Nemo Tensor. In the morning just wipe it down a bit, mostly on the outside and pack it away. That's it. Less time housekeeping, more time hiking and sightseeing. Last but not least, you can throw it inside a shelter for more comfort. I mean, with some pads being 25 inches and the front to rear dimensions being rather irrelevant in this case, who the is going to complain that you have mice protection and they don't?

Condensation soaked through overnight into sleeping bagI was disappointed with this bivy on first use as it was described as waterproof and I loved packing lift but condensation overnight completely bled through onto the sleeping bag making sleeping in cold weather miserable. I was hoping this would hold up in Poot weather situations but I couldn't handle even humidity.

So far so goodHaving spent 6 nights in the bivy both in wet/cold conditions it preformed very well keeping my sleeping bag dry. I found it best to augment this bivy with a small tarp/footprint and an SOL escape bivy sack for additional warmth and water proofing. When in a solid down-poor I fixed a lightweight tarp over the bivy stop rain from directly hitting it. The outside of the bivy was wet and or puddles were forming on top, but my sleeping bag was dry. I feel like bivys get a bad rap for being too small, damp, or just not enough for the elements. If you know what you'er getting into though this can be a very great sleeping system.

Light and Comfy - Needs stake-point reinforcement. It is light and I was comfortable. The stake points need extra reinforced stitches, they ripped easily, both of them and I'm a little bummed about that. I understand it's meant to be light, but it came apart easily. I would try to return it, but I still need it for current/upcoming UT, WY and CO hunts and don't want to be without one. It is lightweight and roomy comparably to most Bivy sacks and I'm 5'11/ 200 lbs. The zipper's are good and so far the material seems legit. I paired this with an ultralight sleeping pad & lightweight tarp/550 cord system to keep the rest of my gear dry. It did help get my whole "sleep/camp system" down to under 7 lbs. including sleeping bag (heavier synthetic, not down). Lastly it isn't as "free-standing as it looks in the photo, a string must be tied to something above to get it to stand like the image. I'd give it a 5 star if the stake points didn't easily tear on my first use.

Early impressionsAfter a few nights out- I may recommend one of the models with the pole farther back towards the top of your head. It’s okay and did the job when called upon, but may not be as well designed as other OR models.

Poor designTwo seasons in with over 90 days each year as my fire line shelter, and I'll echo the other reviews here. An utter and total lack of structure makes this bivy a big disappointment. Easily buffetted by winds, claustrophobic, hot and seriously lacking in any real water resistance. The Helium trades on OR good reputation but is a poor product. Save your money, it fails to perform as anything but a saggy sauna.

Serious design flaws compromise productThis product has some serious design flaws that have been pointed out in numerous online reviews. Highly unfortunate as some basic design improvements would make this product a far superior item with minimal change or investment from OR. A summary of design flaws: 1) There are only TWO guyline loops. Why on earth would OR limit this number for such a minimal amount of additional sewing? The lack of guyline loops results in the inability to keep the bivy taut, shed water, reduce flapping and most important, keep the head loop sturdy and in place. There should be loops at each corner to secure it during heavy winds. 2) The bug mesh does not stay taut as shown in display images. It sags and there are only two attachment points to keep the mesh away from your face. Four attachment points would have been ideal, however, the bigger issue is that the inability to keep the loop and general bivy material tight, results in a loose and flappy bugscreen that sits on your face and head and allows you to get massacred by bugs all night. A simple fabric management improvement would have resolved this issue. 3) Breathability is still lacking. Any meaningful difference in temperature between outdoor ambient and inside the bivy will result in substantial moisture build-up. Because it is impossible to keep the bivy material taught due to the lack of guyline loops, it sags and sits on your sleeping bag resulting in meaningful water penetration if you are not using a synthetic material. We are talking dampness as though you got rained on all night in light showers- very dangerous in the wrong situation. A water-resistant zippered ventilation flap could have helped this issue substantially. On nights when there is a breeze and its not raining, this flap could have helped circulate air flow and stop the stagnation of air inside the bivy. Even if the bug screen is used throughout the night, it does not allow for sufficient air flow to reduce the condensation build-up. OR can do better
