Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag. Worth the extra bulk. Great bivy. I stayed several nights in the Rocky Mountains backcountry. It kept out the heavy dew and inner condensation was very acceptable. I used a sleep pad and light sleeping bag and had plenty of room. It actually rolls up in the original bag- no origami skills required.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small, lightweight, but needs work on hood design I bought this bivy to use on a climbing trip up the Grand Teton, and to use for backcountry hunting. It is small, lightweight, and easy to set up. The material seems very durable and tough, and after one night in it, it breathes very well also. The only down side is that the arched head area does not stay up and out of your face without a guyline attached, which it doesn't come with. And there's only one small loop on the arch to connect a line. Needs a little design improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alpine Bivy I just purchased this bivy having had a few others in the past. It has a quality construction - a good design, but has flaws some of which have been addressed by the pricier OR Advanced Bivy. The best use of this is in tandem with a Sil tarp, which shelters the user when there is harsh weather conditions Otherwise getting into the bivy is going to be a major wet weather challenge. Here are some of the negatives: The stuff sack has no loop on the bottom to assist in pulling the bivy out of a very tight bag. The pole is Delrin with a rough leading edge, and a shock cord tied into a small knot on the outside. The causes abrasion and creates resistance when inserting the pole. There is only one tie down loop at the apex of the crown, when two or even three are needed. The bivy did the snap, crackle and pop during the night. The foot of the bivy is longer than it really needs to be Anyone suggesting they are going to stuff their shoes at the bottom of the bivy is going to have a surprise in the morning, when they try to retrieve them. The bug screen has a zipper system which defies the logic behind having the zipper to begin with. And the bug mesh lays on your face. The entryway zipper should continue to the region of the users' hip. ASIDE FROM THESE SMALL ISSUES. This is the best made bivy I have ever owned!! The quality is beyond great. And the bivy performs as intended and is a Value Laden Product. I would buy it again without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug As a Bug I have been looking for a lightweight 4-season tent or bivy option for a while and could not be happier ...truly waterproof and spacious (for a bivy).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I guess I'm a bivy guy Used this bivy first for a backcountry splitboard trip. Slept very comfortably in a snow hole. Stayed plenty warm with temperatures in the teens Fahrenheit. Next used it on a bike tour. Love that it doesn't take up much room on my bike and is lightweight. My favorite thing about bivy camping is that I don't have to find a big chunk of flat land for a tent. We're usually deep in the woods and the terrain is rough and uneven. Find a little hole and call it home. Bivy life is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would have no problem buying this again This is for my backcountry elk hunting up in Montana mountains.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not usable for very cold weather! I don't think this product was tested in a very cold environment (below -20 degrees). Bag is way to small to fit a mat for cold weather, sleeping bag. Hardly any space for boots, pants etc. so that is does not freeze. When frozen in the morning it does not pack! I will sell/throw this away after 1 use.

What is the temperature rating?

Asked by: PNWexplorer
Hey there! I was just in the Pacific Northwest! I'll have you know, when I am President, I am going to enact an executive order to relocate the PNW to metro Detroit. Just a head's up! As for this bivy, it technically doesn't have a temperature rating - you will have to rely on your sleeping pad and sleeping bag to give you warmth. It is considered a 4 season simply because it can withstand wind and is exceptionally waterproof. The nature of Gore-tex also means it will help trap a lot of your own body heat inside. Bear in mind, in not so cold temperatures, these waterproof bivies (bivvies? Bivi?) can totally trap condensation from that very same body heat!
