Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Daypack Introduction: I bought this backpack a month ago in advance for a hiking trip in Colorado. I have used this for some biking trails locally and it has worked great. Here are some things I enjoy and some that I don't. Pros: - Lightweight feel - Lots of straps for additional attachments - Expandable water bottle pouches (2 of them) - Expandable main compartment that holds all that you need for a day trip - Pouch for a water reservoir Cons: - If you don't carry enough, it can get lopsided - Doesn't come with a water reservoir Conclusion: I think this is a great multi-function product. I would recommend this for day trips, hiking, or even just as an everyday backpack if you pack light. The pros far outweigh cons because this really is what you're looking for in a product that you don't want to weigh you down, but still be useful for carrying things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight quality materials Osprey packs are the Best I’ve ever owned. The workmanship is second to none. Thanks Moosejaw for the great deal. If you’re looking for a pack that will last years take a look at Osprey you can’t go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective I was looking for an affordable day pack to take on hikes and this checked all my boxes for features. 1) place for a hydration bladder. 2) waist and chest straps. 3) large enough for a change of clothes/ trail snacks. Only had the pleasure of hiking with this once but it was perfect for a day hike. It stays secure and weighs little. I may take this on a run soon. The top pocket is perfect for the small quick access essentials. This is a no frills bag that does everything I need it to. The bonus I discovered is it packs down to almost nothing and zips up within itself in the top pocket. Perfect for taking on a backpacking trip for an extra day bag. Osprey never disappoints and for the price it’s a great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect!!! I bought this bag just over a month ago. I’ve had the opportunity to use it twice now. First, was a day hiking adventure. It carried the usual essentials (waters, lunches, first aid kit, binoculars, etc) for the kids, my husband and I, with plenty of room to spare. And it was very comfortable to wear. The second time, was this past weekend. My daughter had a Regatta. We sometimes walk quite the distance from where we park, to the river / lake. Again, it held water, snacks, binoculars, camera and a good size blanket (chilly day), very well. It’s the perfect size, durable and found out this weekend - waterproof. It’s great quality and appearance. I received many compliments on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and useful This pack is really useful. There is plenty of room in the main compartment for everything you would need on a day hike and the lid compartment is great for small items. I like the two big mesh water bottle pockets on the sides. The shoulder straps include a sternum strap and load lifters but they are not padded. There is a foam pad in the back but it is pretty thin and does not provide a lot of support. This pack is not for heavy loads but it’s great for jackets, snacks, a hammock and a book. It’s well made and uses quality materials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and efficient. I have used this day pack for spur hikes. It is packable and lightweight. Quality product. I would use this pack in many different situations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Roomy! I bought this a month ago and so far it has been really helpful. I use it for school and regular jaunts up the hill behind my house. I really like the outside top pocket and how roof it is. I think the drawstring under the flap could be better since it's designed differently than other drawstrings I've used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded Expectations I was leaving for a trip to Iceland which included both full and multi -day ice caving, dives, glacier hikes, lava tube cave system climbs. I love Osprey products and typically carry the Talon 44 but decided to go much smaller and lighter so I ordered this daypack. Truthfully, I was a little skeptical about its quality when I received it: the straps (shoulder, hip, sternum, and top hand strap) seemed thin and I was worried the seams/threading would rip with weight. I decided to see how it would hold up on my trip. I was really surprised to find out that it would hold up to 22lbs of weight when I really packed things in once at my Iceland 'home base' - a compressed packing cube of insulated winter clothes, travel towel, toiletry bag, tripod, camera, scuba housing for my camera, first aid kit, water, book, MacBook Air, crampons, etc. The shoulder straps aren't padded but are comfortable enough with the weight distributed to the hip and sternum straps. I hit a couple of extreme weather advisory days, but the pack withstood the rain, hail, and snow keeping my things inside dry. The only other thing I wish it had was bottom access, but I figure as a daypack it shouldn't be overly loaded (like I did with my 22lbs) anyway. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and durability.

Is the hip belt and or the sternum strap removable if wanted?

Asked by: Kiwi17
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Out of all the 20 Daypack Osprey packs we sell.....this is one of them. So, you bring up a super interesting question. So interesting, I had to call the warehouse and have them bring me one of these packs. Wanted to double check it myself. So, the sternum straps are adjustable (up and down the shoulder straps) but I be hesitant to call them removable. I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could probably pop them off...but I doubt you'd be able to get them back on. For the hip belt, again, it's adjustable....but it's securely sewed onto the pack. Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.

Are the mesh side compartments large enough to fit a 48 oz water bottle?

Asked by: williebeamen23
Hi there williebeamen23, thanks for your question! I tested the side pocket with a 40 ounce bottle and it fit fine, so I don't think a 48 ounce bottle would be a problem. Hope this helps!

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
