Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gear hauler! I bought this bag to complement the two smaller Osprey luggage bags we currently have for a three week vacation visiting 8 National Parks! It has been perfect and I highly recommend for anyone checking a large bag on an airplane who needs to bring a lot of gear! We will use it for Alaska next!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it's HUGE if you can't fit everything for your trip you're over packing. I just used it for a two week trip that included needing to pack for three days of cycling, 4 days of hiking/backpacking, 4 days of skiing, and a day of climbing. And I still had room left over for stuff I picked up along the way. This bag is seriously huge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible to travel with - but looks great! Love the number of pockets, the size of the storage area, however, all of that is secondary to how terrible this bag is to walk with. When in tow it constantly fowls on my leg with each step, which has given me hip and back pain. I am on a 4-week trip and only a week in and needed to see a Chiropractor due to the pain this has caused from walking with it. If you are getting taxi rides everywhere this bag will be fine, if you have to walk any distance with the bag, avoid at all costs! Such a shame, as on paper the bag looked great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super for Scuba diving My wife and I have used the Shuttle bags to transport our scuba diving gear and all other necessities, when we go diving to many different places around the world. These bags are easy to pack, yet lightweight - which is very important since airlines often want us to keep our total luggage weight under 50 pounds. With these bags, we can easily pack all our scuba gear, clothes, and other stuff, and still be under 50 pounds. The bags are also very strong and rugged which is important to us as our luggage not only goes on/off airplanes, but also on/off boats, boat docks. (Going scuba diving is NOT the same as going to a nice hotel. Rather, it is often a more rugged environment). Our bags have performed flawlessly. We also have (only) Osprey bag for hiking, as well as more casual travel. The Osprey bags were originally recommended to us by a fellow traveler (who was also a world traveler). Needless to say, that recommendation was 'spot on' and we have enjoyed and appreciated our Osprey for many years now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect long haul bag Have had previous Osprey bags and wanted something a little bigger for extended travel. This bag is great and has the same durability as other Osprey bags. Love this bag and never disappointed by their products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LOVE, Except.... My family purchased a similar Osprey bag several years ago that was nice and lightweight, but needed some adjustments regarding easy access/loading. This bag fixed everything AND was lighter (not to mention a GREAT color that so easy to spot in baggage claim!)...and then was drug right back down because the wheeling handle is as short as it is in the picture, making it a miserable bag to wheel around and travel with. Not sure why the designers landed on such a terrible feature, but it ruins the whole bag and keeps me from purchasing a second bag for myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag! I just received this bag several weeks ago which I purchased to take on my hunting trips which often involve flying with a lot of gear. I can't believe I didn't purchase a bag like this years ago. This bag is great, heavy duty construction and designed extremely well. I would highly recommend this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bag we have ever used My wife and I have used these bags on many overseas trips. We usually travel for 3 weeks at a time and we can pack 3 weeks of clothes and essentials (even winter clothes) without a problem. You could actually exceed 50 lbs of stuff. We use packing cubes and that helps keep everything orderly. After many trips, we had one bag that the airlines bent the frame and the other they managed to rip a hole in the bottom. I sent them back to Osprey and they sent me two new ones. You can't beat that. I love Osprey and their bags!!!! They are also the perfect size for carrying onto trains. They have many grab handles too.

I want an Osprey, but I want one that can be an airline carry on.  Which one works?

Asked by: Tom p
I've been carrying on the Osprey Shuttle 22in/40L for a couple years now. Great bag, though a little tight. Perfect for shorter trips.

The Osprey 36" appears to considered an "oversized" bag according to the linear dimensions that add up to 67". Can you "crunch" this down to 62" with the straps?  Are you being charged for an "oversized" bag?

Asked by: Renee
Thank you for the question! This is a little tricky to answer since each airline has different checked luggage policies and it may vary by destination & cabin class. If you do not plan to fully stuff the pack, it can be compressed down to 62 inches with the straps. I have heard from many customers that they were able to check this pack and had no issues. As long as you keep it under 50 lbs you will not have an "oversize" charge. Hope this helps!

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
