The Osprey Poco AG Premium Child Carrier is a hiking pack for bringing your child on the trails. When they're too little to walk for a long time and your arms have had enough. Sometimes, you've just gotta get outdoors with the little one and the Double Halo™ harness secures your kiddo while the adjustable/removable stirrups give their little feet a place to hang out. The adult harness is adjustable, making it easy for mom to carry for awhile, then switch to dad. You should probably also make your friend that joined the hike carry the kid for awhile.

FEATURES of the Osprey Poco AG Premium Child Carrier

  • Poco Premium features a ventilated, tensioned mesh back panel, effortless torso adjustment and a wide range of adjustability for the plushly padded hipbelt
  • Ventilated and height-adjustable cockpit; padded, secure shoulder straps feature buckles that attach out of the child's reach
  • Child's cockpit is surrounded by padded framing and features adjustable stirrups for a comfortable ride
  • Drool pad is machine-washable and easy to remove
  • Hydration sleeve behind the back panel holds a reservoir of your choice
  • Use the detachable daypack as an onboard diaper bag, or lighten your load and let someone else carry it
  • Plenty of pockets and a spacious storage compartment make it a simple endeavor to pack and organize snacks, drinks, clothes and other essentials
  • Innovative, built-in sunshade quickly folds flat and stows away in a zippered pocket when not in use
  • Strong, powder-coated aluminum frame with injection-molded hinges stands upright on the ground and folds easily for storage or travel
  • Osprey Poco Premium child carrier features a diaper changing pad that makes your youngster's response to the call of nature a lot less unpleasant to manage

Osprey Anti-Gravity
Using Osprey's peripheral suspension design this lightweight, body contouring, three dimensional suspension literally allows the wearer to move as if they don’t have a pack on. Seamless suspended mesh from the shoulder blades to the lumbar and even into the hipbelt region disperses and balances the load like nothing ever has before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By far the best baby backpack on the market We were looking for a backpack mainly for outdoor use and after much research decided on the Poco Premium. This baby carrier is amazing and use it almost every day for: shopping, errands, festivals etc. my daughter loves being up high at eye level with everyone and the excellent hip belt and load straps do a great job of keeping the weight off of your shoulders and on your hips like a good pack should. I would recommend this to any new parent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good carrier Hip belt works fine once it’s adjusted right. I’m 6’ tall and the torso is a little short for me even after adjusting. My large 15 mo old seems to like it. Good storage space.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Pack, Uncomfortable Hip Belt This pack came highly recommended from friends and online reviews. We love it -- mostly. Our now-10-month-old has been riding high in it for at least four months now and he's very happy in it. He can see the world, is well-shaded, there's plenty of room for diapers in the storage pouch and it's so comfortable he doesn't complain. The big complaint from Mommy, however, is that hip belt. It digs in just above my hip bones, leaving bruising and now scabs. I've tried adjusting it, but don't seem to have the magic fitting (if there even is one). Baby is now twenty pounds and while there's usually a liter of water and a diaper and a few wipes stashed in the bottom pocked, I'm afraid for when Baby is a lot heavier than that! Even a short couple-mile hike will cause pain. I love this pack, but my tolerance for the hip belt is rapidly waning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A full-featured carrier with all the best extras! The Osprey Poco AG Premium really has everything you didn't know you needed to successfully and safely carry your young on one your back. Little things like the included mirror to check on your budding trail expert to bigger things like the pop-up sun shade which makes you feel like your child is royalty. There is gobs of space for all the necessities for your little one and even a removable day pack (or maybe their first school backpack). The pack is a bit cumbersome for a smaller person but adjusts well to many sizes (fits both me at 5'11" and my wife at 5'1") and it doesn't include the rain protector at the premium level (which I think would be a good add-on for anyone getting this pack). Bottom line is that I cannot recommend this pack enough to be the best way to expose your family to all the wonders that nature has to offer. Or as a great alternative to a stroller when walking your dogs!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice pack, terrible hip belt I should have listened to the other reviews: if you have bony hips, I would stay far away from this pack. I strapped it on, adjusted it and I instantly felt the "anti-gravity" belt digging into my hip bone. It is simply a poor design with a very stiff component where the belt pad adjusts and there was no way to alleviate it. I am a 6'1" 185lb guy, so not exactly a twig but slim. I called Osprey, who answered the phone right away, and according to them I had the pack on correctly and she eventually admitted that "it doesn't fit some people as well". My wife also tried the pack and said "it's OK but not very comfortable", so it wasn't as bad for her but we both need to be able to wear it. We also confirmed that we had the newer model with the extra hip belt padding. Overall the pack has some awesome features, the day bag is nice as well as the adjustable strap height and folding kickstand. There are ample pockets and storage and I liked the strapping system for the child, it was easy to buckle and unbuckle. It is unfortunate that the hip belt is so uncomfortable for certain body types and I would call it a large oversight for a premium priced product from an otherwise awesome company. I was bummed to have to send it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My boy never complained much Went on a few days hikes in Utah for 4 miles at most before my 14 month got grumpy. The hip strap needs to be broken in and adjusted for height to find the sweet spot. My boyslept and bounced his head on the soft drool pad a ton, but didn't get grumpy. The pack held up nicely. The storage space is tricky beneath the baby, because if you put the kickstand in, everything get smooshed. Also putting in a hydration pack was tricky, and can't fit more than two liters. It felt like there was a lot of room between my son and I will made him feel heavier and less attached to my back. But he was comfortable and had a lot of space. He was able to keep cool even in Utah during the summer. The sunshade was a great perk to have. Also the carrier case is a must for traveling the skyways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pack I bought this pack for my 2 year old daughter, excellent and very comfortable pack with all the features a parent will need to have a enjoyable hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for the kids My one year old loves it. He took an hour and a half nap while we did a four mile hike over rough Terrain. Sunshade works better than I expected it to.

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
