Osprey Anti-Gravity

Osprey Anti-Gravity
Using Osprey's peripheral suspension design this lightweight, body contouring, three dimensional suspension literally allows the wearer to move as if they don’t have a pack on. Seamless suspended mesh from the shoulder blades to the lumbar and even into the hipbelt region disperses and balances the load like nothing ever has before.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great for the adult, bad for the kid My husband found this to be an extremely comfortable carrier, but my daughter (almost 2 years old, 50 percentile for everything) screamed while in it because of the seat, which is basically a crotch dangler instead of a seat. She loved the Deuter Kid Comfort 3 so we stuck with that one, although it was less comfortable for my husband. Why can't Osprey make a good seat?!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Versatile Than You Imagine I purchased the Poco AG Plus in advance of a summer trip to Yosemite and Tahoe for several 4 plus hour hikes with my almost two-year old daughter. Although I anticipate carrying her almost all if not the entire time, I do appreciate the ease with which I can adjust the harness in case someone else is willing to share the duty. My purchasing decision was between the Osprey and the Deuter Kidcomfort III. I believe both are excellent choices and it would be difficult to go wrong with either, but I ultimately chose the Osprey for its unique back ventilation system for use in hot and/or humid conditions. In addition, the Osprey is slightly smaller than the Deuter, can be collapsed when the child is not in it, and for $30 or less you can purchase an Osprey Poco carrying case that will provide some protection should you need to check the pack at the airport. In its favor, the Kidcomfort III was more "plush" for the child, which may be a more significant factor if your child is younger or smaller than mine (she is ~ 27 lbs); provided higher head protection for the child; had more convenient pockets for snacks, etc. for the child; and provided an easier "step-through" method of entry than the Osprey which requires that the child be inserted into the carrier from above. While others have extolled the extra carrying capacity of the Poco AG Plus in comparison to the Deuter, I believe this difference is overstated. The bulk of the carrying capacity in any of the Poco models is found in the area below where the child sits. Fully utilizing this space requires the kickstand to remain fully extended rather than collapsed, which makes the entire pack more cumbersome. Finally, while I purchased this pack specifically for hiking with my daughter, as a Chicagoan I often walk and like to frequent various summer festivals throughout the city and have found the Osprey to be preferable to trying to navigate a stroller through crowded areas. Thus, while the Osprey is unlikely to ever fully replace a stroller, I will definitely get additional use of the pack beyond long hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS PACK HOLDS CHILDREN Seriously folks, this backpack is a great child carrier. It does the job as advertised. Really holds the weight at the hips, and makes it feel effortless to carry a child up a mountain. Ample storage for snacks and more. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way to bring the little dude with! A way to get the whole family out on the trail! Was very excited to find something like this as we have been having to leave the littlest dude behind. After reading reviews about this baby carrier as well as some models from other manufacturers, I settled on this one based on the reviews that I read/watched. I am glad that I did. Let me be frank and say I have a beefy little boy, and this pack makes hauling him EZPZ. I was familiar with the anti-gravity system from my Osprey Manta AG and that was definitely a selling point. It does its job very well and spreads the load out evenly. The built-in sunshade is a plus for those sunny days. It's really easy to load the child in and out, as well as get it on your back once the child is loaded. I purchased a 1.5L hydration pack to throw in here as well to stay hydrated. I have nothing but good things to saw about this pack, and Osprey in general.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE it. We bought this for Mother’s Day right before a 5 day camping/hiking trip. My 3yo was in it every day and was always comfortable. It has great storage in the bottom for food and sunscreen and larger items. There’s an open pocket at the top which is nice for things we need easy access to, pockets at the hip which my husband put his phone in so he could take it out for pictures without taking the whole pack off, plus several other pockets and loops to hang things from. I felt like I discovered a new pocket every day of our trip. I love the stand, it was great for getting my daughter in and out, as well as keeping the pack clean when we took it off on the trail so we didn’t have to lay it down when not in use. It’s comfortable for the adult, I was able to put most of the weight in the hips so my shoulders weren’t tired. It’s adjustable in multiple ways, so you can really customize it to your body. The shade is AWESOME. I loved that my daughter could keep her upper body covered and cool when it got really hot and sunny. The only cons I see are the same as others have mentioned, the zipper to get to the shade isn’t super smooth, it does get a little caught, as well as the zipper to the storage compartment at the bottom. But honestly for all of the pros to this pack, those zippers hardly bother me or matter to me at all. Overall, this is an excellent buy, it’s fantastic quality, and I’d recommend it to anyone. It also has a lifetime guarantee, that if anything breaks on it, regardless the reason, osprey will fix it or replace it. It’s a great product and they stand behind it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality Light weight. Many secure features for your child. Like how it has a collapsible sun visor. The siding has mesh covering, and the bag also includes stirrups so your child’s legs are not dangling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable AF Already have went on some great hikes with my little girl. Maneuvering under and over logs. On the edge of steep slopes and across creeks. Never once did I feel like she wasn’t safe and secure. Also being a little white kid the sun shade is a great feature.

Would the Osprey Poco carriers fit a person 4 feet 10 inches tall?

Asked by: Karen19
Hiya Karen19, thanks for your question! It depends on your torso measurement, not your height. It fits a person with a 15.5"– 21.5” torso size. (The hipbelt fits a 26"– 48" waist.) If you do not know your torso size, follow these directions to get the measurements: 1. Tilt your head forward and feel for the bony bump where the slope of your shoulders meets your neck. This is your 7th cervical (or C7) vertebra—and the top of your torso length. 2. On each side of your body, slide your hands down the ribcage to the top of your hip bones (aka the iliac crest). With index fingers pointing forward and thumbs pointing backward, draw an imaginary line between your thumbs. This spot on your lumbar is the bottom of your torso measurement. 3. Stand up straight and have a friend measure (you'll need a flexible measuring tape) the distance between the C7 and the imaginary line between your thumbs. That’s your torso length. Hope this helps!

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
