Rated 3 out of 5 by from Regret this...water bottles fall out constantly I REALLY want to love this pack..I LOVE the blue lining and THOUGHT the various compartments would really suite my needs. Unfortunately, the main "center" pocket has a smaller zipper section than the laptop pocket. I always open the wrong pocket by accident and have to re-zip and open the other one. I could probably get used to this over time but I wish the laptop pocket was inside the main section instead of having a whole separate section-also adds bulk. The laptop pocket takes up a lot of space so it is difficult to fit things in the center and access them. My main issue is that water bottles DO NOT stay in the side pockets-this was my whole purpose for purchasing this pack!!!! Even my daughter's small munchkin 12 oz cup falls out. Can't fit a Nalgene or anything in it. Every bottle falls out the second you lean even slightly forward. I'm so disappointed and for this reason will be looking for a different bag. I wasted my money. Pros: There are a ton of internal pockets & the interior blue color is GORGEOUS and also makes it easy to spot items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Perfect size, live the color, super light and so many pockets. I really love it, and compared to the other options, it was a great price for what you’re getting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential for any student or traveler! I bought this as I needed a new backpack for school, and I am studying abroad in London this summer. All I can say is that I love this backpack! There are so many pockets, and the separate laptop sleeve is very useful for keeping things separate and safe. The Nova has a mesh ventilated back panel as well as ventilated shoulder straps to ensure airflow while carrying. I love the cross-body straps that allow for support when carrying a lot in the backpack to balance the weight. The hip-strap is also detachable which is very useful. There is a sturdy grab handle at the top of the pack for easy handling. And although this is a larger pack with multiple compartments, it is still lightweight and easy for both everyday use as a student or commuter as well as for traveling. Honestly, the only downside is the compression straps that go around the water bottle pockets on the side of the bag can loosen over time, but that's the only complaint. And as long as you don't bend over too much with the backpack on, you should be fine! This pack comes in various colors that fit any preference and come in both men’s and women’s fit. The women’s style is more tailored to fit a woman’s body, and I found it was perfect for me as a smaller person. In addition to being perfect for students, it is a great backpack for travel as it is a large backpack but is still carry-on size as well as extremely lightweight. In comparison to other Osprey packs, the Nova is most similar to the Questa, but the Nova is larger in volume as the Nova is 33-liters whereas the Questa is 27-liters. Additionally, the Nova has the extra laptop compartment with laptop sleeve compared to the Questa that only has two separate compartments. This backpack has made my life as a college student much easier because I don’t have to worry about not being able to carry everything I need for a typical day. I also intend to use this backpack when I study abroad this summer in London, and I look forward to testing the practicality of this bag for travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fit and size It was good to find a pack which fit my frame. The zipper pulls are an issue. I'm going to see if I can replace them. I solved the water bottle issue on an earlier pack and will continue to clip it onto a nearby loop with a small clip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack! I tried out several different packs to suit my needs for school and international travel. The Osprey Nova was perfect for all of my needs! It's incredibly comfortable which is so important since I'm using this pack for commuting on my bike, going to class and traveling on trains and planes. The organization and capacity of this pack are perfect. It's not too big or small and it's incredibly easy to store and organize all of my stuff. This pack is perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love ... but I have always used North Face packs and have loved them. But they are heavy, even when empty. I bought this pack and have been using it for a little over three months. I absolutely love it. Bat pack I have ever purchased, with one huge flaw. When you put a water bottle in the side pocket, regardless of size of the bottle, it will fall out. I have tried adjusting the straps, putting in smaller bottles, Nalgene bottles etc. there is no way that a bottle will stay in the side pockets. If the pack is on your back and you let lean forward to pick something up, the bottle slide out. I cannot believe something so important in a pack is not fixed. Went back to where I bought it and asked if I was doing something wrong or if there was a trick to keeping the bottles in place. I was told that this pack was not intended to be used outside of school. What? So people in school don't drink water? I love this pack but I need to carry water. Does anyone have a hack on how to secure a water bottle? Straps do nothing. Would love some feedback.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag, Not Great for Under-seat Personal Item I bought this bag for school and traveling with my laptop, knowing that this would not be my edc bag. I love Osprey bags, I think their shoulder straps/suspension and back panel on this pack are spot on with what I expected from them (I have the Kyte 46 and Daylite that I love). Getting through TSA with my laptop was super quick. I ended up zipping through in front of 2 people that were fighting to get their laptops out of their bags as I just unzipped mine - so that was pretty awesome. As for fitting under the seat - I did not have this bag packed full so I was able to stuff it under the seat. If it was stuffed full it would have been another 2-3 inches or so deeper and would not have fit under the seat (Spirit under-seat limits are: 18" x 14" x 8") The bag is at least 19" x 12" x 10", although I did not measure to confirm. I used 2 medium ebags packing cubes fully packed and had my 15.6" HP laptop in the back, there was room for a lot more in the bag, but I wanted it to fit under the seat (see photo attached). Note: I was able to pack pjs, and 2 days of clothes, a bathing suit and undergarments in the 2 cubes. My complaints with the Osprey bag is a complaint I have with a lot of bags/packs -- the side compression straps go around a water bottle. When you take the water bottle out, the bag is not compressed, this is just annoying as it makes the bottle harder to get out if you have the straps pulled tight. Other than that, the organization and compartments in this bag are great and provide a space for everything I need for class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it. After exhaustive research, I picked this pack to take with me for my Peace Corps service In Ethiopia. I've been using it daily here in the States to get to know it, and I am so so happy with my choice. I love the separate "laptop" section for all my notebooks & my laptop. All my other bulky stuff goes in the other full size section. The helmet pouch is where I put my keys, or the first aid kit I carried around as the camp nurse. Highly recommend.

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
