Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Overnight or long day trip pack The pack is very comfortable to wear and has a lot of storage for a daypack. I used for a one night out and back trip and was able to carry tent, food, chair, clothes, bags, pads, and water for this trip. My cooking system was a tight fit, though with all other parts in there - still pretty good for a pack not designed for that much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it Exactly what I expected. Excellent quality. The included water reservoir is an excellent bonus and is excellent quality. The magnet on reservoir drinking hose that keeps it tucked away on the front strap was an awesome surprise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great day pack First bought one of these for myself, then my daughter, then my husband wanted one too. The hydration feature came in handy for the all-day hikes at Utah's 5 National Parks in June 2020. Great pack.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Several issues with chest strap I purchased the Manta 34 because it has the AG System like my Atmos 65 AG, and it fit the bill size wise for day hikes and light overnight. I used the Manta 34 times over this last weekend for hikes that were 6-8 miles in length with 1300 ft + elev gains, and the pack weighed in at ~25 lbs with full water and gear. I had no issues with backache or shoulder fatigue, so the AG System worked just as well as on my larger pack. I was skeptical about the narrow waist strap, and as I thought, when tightening the strap in order for the hip pads to sit properly on the hips, the narrow waist strap starts cutting into the stomach...especially when leaning forward on a steep incline. The worst part was the chest strap since both sides kept sliding up towards my neck. The vertical position retention is horrible and would not hold in place across my chest. As the strap started creeping up, tension for the shoulder straps was lost allowing them spread out and start digging into my armpits. Additionally, they integrated the water hose magnet into the chest strap retainer clip which puts the nozzle right up against your so the tube assembly kept coming loose at the magnet and dropping down. I will be returning this pack mainly because the chest strap position retention issue because I should be able to enjoy a hike, not have to readjust the chest strap every 10-15 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best day pack I've owned Most comfortable pack I've owned. I have the nebula 34 which is basically the same pack but for work/commuting and I love it I just wanted more hiking features. The Manta is the daypack version and so far I am a big fan. Plenty of storage, super comfortable straps and the back vent is fantastic.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stupid design flaw on potentially perfect bag It's a great bag in every way I'm 6'5" and it has plenty of adjustability, I like all the pockets, the padding everything it's an Osprey.... BUT!!! WHY OSPREY WHY!! Why would you put like a 3/4" wide piece of webbing as a hip belt strap WHY!!!. it is absolutely the dumbest thing I have ever seen in my life, this is pretty large bag, I can carry a ton of weight in just water, it has an elastic sternum strap meaning its supposed to be adjust loose which u can only do when the back is riding up on your hips with a winched down hip belt, the sides of the hip belt even have load adjusting straps and heavy pads that are worthless thanks to the 3/4" wide hip belt that a you cant get tight enough and b if you do will dig into your skin and rub u bloddy on 30 minutes... I'm going to have to cut it off and buy some 2" webbing and buckles find a seamstress that can do heavy duty commercial stitching and ad real hip belts. I mean honestly whoever decided to use that thin little strap on a padded hip belt on a bag that can hold 50lbs really has no business designing bags.. do you even know how hip belts work? I would only ever recommend this to a friend under the pretense that they would have to have a custom hip belt attached if they actually planned on carrying over 20lbs. Only other thing is the hydration pocket, the bladder hangs from what looks like is designed to hold a small ring of car keys, its identical to what most backpacks have in a pocket for that same purpose and this solely supports the entire water bladder. I just hope its holds up 20 years of holding a 3l bladder I have a 12 year old camelback blowfish with thousands and thousands of miles on it and still in great shape so it should be possible. also wish the hydration pocket had an elastic pouch to help support the water bladders if you dont have a stuffed bag that bladder just swings back and fourth in there hanging from that little key ring strap way up at the top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good - but could use some improvement I have the older version Manta 36 pack, and have been using it on extended hikes for over a year now. The Manta is an excellent pack. My purchase decision was driven by my desire to stay organized when packing for a hike, and the multitude of pockets and compartments allow me to keep my extra clothes separate from food, emergency gear, sun screens, etc . The stow-away feature for trekking poles is a nice added touch. I never load it to full capacity for day hikes - so it stays light - but the organization is what counts to me and hence my choice. In addition, the hip belt really takes the load off your shoulders and makes carrying the pack extremely comfortable. The mesh support separating the pack from your back also adds comfort. You will still sweat on hot days, but it is so much more comfortable putting your pack back on after a rest break while you've worked up a sweat than with the more conventional styles. One area for suggested improvement: The hip belt pockets are a great idea and make dual use of the hip belt by adding storage for often needed items requiring quick access. E.g. a smart phone. And here is the crux: modern, larger style smart phones do not fit into this pocket. And this would be such a great place to store them: safely zippered, quick & convenient access, not having them bounce around in your pant pockets, possibly even loosing them on rocky climbs along the trail. Increasing the size of these hip belt pockets to allow for modern smart phone storage would be a great idea, and make this pack even better organized. While you are at it, you might also want to improve the zipper of these hip pockets - they tend to snag when fully opened, while trying to re-close them carrying the pack on your back. Its an awkward angle to reach back to. I could also do with an additional, or larger, mesh pocket in the main compartment. Overall I would recommend the pack as is. It would be outstanding with these improvements.

Please note that the info provided above refers to the Torso Size / Length the pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are steps for how to measure your torso length. You should have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate.

HOW to MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
1. Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
2. Touch your chin to your chest to find the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck.
3. Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
4. Measure the full length from the C7 vertebrae to the iliac crest. This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size chart above to find your ideal size.
5. If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW to MEASURE CHEST MEASUREMENT:
Measure around the fullest part of the chest.

If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
