Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product!! I bought the nrs chinook fishing pfd for my 16 year old son about a month ago and he loves it! When you can get a 16 year old to wear a life vest while kayak fishing, that’s a keeper!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome PFD, I don't even fish As I age, I become more skeptical of things. So I became with my auto-inflating PFD from West. So I wanted a foam life jacket that wasn't as nerdy as the standard ones that come in the 4-packs. Although I don't even fish (I mostly cruise coastal and inland waterways...dual console motorboat), I bought this because of all the freaking pockets and gadgets. SO MANY POCKETS. Put freakin sandwiches in them, or entire sunscreen bottles, or granola bars, or your non-boat keys (which probably don't have a floatie attached unless you're a total asshat). Plus when I'm feeling extra responsible, I attach my engine-kill lanyard to one of the many plastic loops. It's a cool PFD, and Moosejaw was the best price I found on the interwebs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pockets keep gear close Comfortable jacket for all day wear. Pockets keep fishing and survival gear close. What else? It floats; helpful for a product of this type.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome PFD I have only used this twice with about 20 miles paddled while wearing it and I couldn't be happier so far. The back is high enough that it goes over the back of my seat and the shape of the arm cutouts are perfect for paddling making it a really comfortable PFD to wear all day.

My chest measures 44.75" My question is should I order the L/XL or XXL?

Asked by: Smash
Hey, Smash! I would do the L/XL and not the XXL. I know there is quite the overlap between the 2, but unless you intend to add some more depth to your chest, the L/XL would be best. This PFD is pretty stiff and if it isn't molded to your body, it could slide upwards and be irritating to your chin, etc. Get the one that is most close to your size so you know it will stay in place (and provide the best safety)!

CHEST: With arms down at your sides, measure around the largest part of the chest, generally across the nipples.

WAIST: Measure around natural waistline, allowing tape measure to sit comfortably.

FORM FIT: Next-to-skin fit for easy layering and efficient performance.

SEMI-FORM FIT: Fits close but not tight for comfort and layering ease.

RELAXED FIT: Full cut for freedom of motion and layering underneath.

Use a flexible cloth measuring tape for measuring. If you do not have one, use a cord or strap and transfer that to a tape measurement.

Measure in your street clothes or base layers. NRS sizes technical outerwear pieces like drysuits and dry tops to include room for layering underneath.

With wetsuits, your weight is the best "tiebreaker" when measurements cross sizes. Remember, wetsuits need to fit snugly to be efficient at excluding water and holding in warmth.

In looser fitting garments like drysuits, splash jackets, etc, look first at the height, then at the weight for a tiebreaker.

Stand up straight when measuring, with your body relaxed.
