Rewards Program Terms and Conditions
Last updated January 1st, 2020
Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.
Leaving Moosejaw Rewards Program:
You may choose to leave the Moosejaw Rewards program at any time by logging in and clicking on the “Opt out Rewards Program” link within the My Account Summary page, Email, calling 877-MOOSEJAW (877-666-7352) or in-store with help from our employees. If you leave the rewards program, any unused MJ$ will be voided upon completion of your request.
Earning MJ$:
All items we sell are eligible with the exception of gift cards or other items specifically noted. Full-priced items earn 10% back while discounted items earn 2.5%. "Discounted items" includes items on sale or discounted via coupon code or use of MJ$. You do not earn MJ$ for shipping or tax charges, only from the item value. MJ$ expire two years after earning and are redeemed on a first-in, first out basis (in other words, we always use your oldest MJ$ that are closest to expiration).
Checking & Redeeming MJ$:
On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. In stores, provide the email address attached to your account to learn your balance and apply to your purchase. We will also send you a monthly email that details your balance and other account activity. This is a transactional email that you will receive even if you are not subscribed to our marketing emails.
Bonus Rewards Promotions:
Every so often, we'll have special offers where you can earn bonus MJ$, like an additional 10%, 20% or 40% back. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. Make sure to check us out on our social channels for other ways to win some extra MJ$!
MJ$ on Gift Cards:
You don't get earn MJ$ when you buy a gift card, but you do get MJ$ when you spend a gift card. Sorry gift givers. You're welcome gift receivers.
Product Returns and MJ$:
If you return an item, we deduct the MJ$ earned on that item from your balance. If you used the MJ$ and your balance is less than deduction, then your refund is reduced by the difference.
Program Abuse:
The intent of the program is to provide our loyal customers with a way to buy great gear for less. Moosejaw reserves the right to remove any user from the program and zero out their MJ$ balance if Moosejaw determines that the user is abusing the program by buying for resale, attempting to game the program or any other reason at Moosejaw's sole discretion.
Are you Sure?
Our Rewards Program is completely FREE and easy to use.
By opting out, you forfeit all the Moosejaw Rewards Dollars your currently have in your account, which is basically throwing away free money. What would your grandmother say about that? If you're 100% sure, please click "OptOut" below.
We want to make extra-sure you realize that you've added a special order item to your cart. These items take a little longer to get to you because we have to order from the manufacturer first. The "Est. Ship Date" is the date we expect items to leave our warehouse... so add your chosen shipping speed to see when it will show up at your door.

Extremely roomy and lightSwitched to this tent on the PCT and it ended up being my favorite piece of gear. Plenty of room to spread out all my stuff at the end up the day. Extremely durable for the weight. Easy to set up and take down. Don't have a bad thing to say about this tent.

Lightweight and packablePurchased a couple months ago and taken out a few times. Make sure to connect pull outs to rain fly to increase distance between sidewalls. It is a coffin but vestibule is large enough for your pack. If you don’t like tight spaces go with the 2P.

The perfect one-person backpacking tent!I have been searching for a lightweight backpacking tent that is simple to set up. My REI one-person tent is way too complicated. Well made, well designed, and it stayed in place during 30 mile an hour gusts at 8,000 feet. Plus the stakes are lightweight, yet strong. Also a good value compared to similar tents. Very happy with this purchase.

don't buy as zipper WILL FAILZipper never worked well and then I had an epic failure of zipper on PCT thru-hike. Almost had to cut myself out of the tent. Shipped myself back up tent (REI SL 1P quarter dome). Buy that one if you can...cheaper and more reliable

Weight reduction above functinalityI've been very disappointed with the Nemo Hornet 1P tent overall. Yes, it is light. That's the positive for me. But, they made some weird design choices that reduce the tent's performance to get to that low weight. IMO, they lost the plot.
First, if you're maybe 6 feet in height or more, forget it. The foot of your sleeping bag will compress against the wall of the tent which reduces the performance of your bag's insulation around your feet. Also, having your bag pressed agains the wall of the tent means you'll probably wake up with the foot of your sleeping bag soaked with condensation, too.
Next, the single point of anchor with the tent pole at the foot of the tent makes zero sense -- other than a few ounces of weight reduction. But that comes at the cost of functionality. This design reduces the structural rigidity of the tent and requires stakes where none should have been needed. The tent has one pole that is split into two at the head of the tent to anchor the corners. It's all shock corded together for easy use. Why oh why didn't they do that at the foot of the tent? It would have been so easy and made a big difference in the way the tent actually performs. And, aside from the better tent set up, it would also substantially improve the functionality of the rain fly.
The rain fly requires multiple stakes to get it taught and have it stay that way, all of which just means longer set up times and poorer functionality if you don't get it just right. Again, not necessary -- other than saving a few ounces.
The short of it for me is that the tent doesn't function very well for it's intended purpose. But it is light. Just a few different design choices would have made this a great tent. As it is, if weight is your only goal and you don't mind reduced functionality, this might be your tent.

Really wanted to love iti've used the 2p Nemo Hornet for a full season now (around 25 nights), mostly bikepacking but also 2 hiking weekends. I really wanted to love it because it's small, compact, easily set up and really stands out at a campground.
However, I found that condensation, and mostly the way the rainfly starts sagging when hit with condensation, was a real problem. When leaving the tent for a midnight bathroom break the rainfly hits the inner mesh causing drops to fall into the inner tent which is really annoying. Also, with two people it's just not comfortable, there's not enough room for 2 packs so I would call it a roomy 1p but not a 2p.
I will be looking into a different tent, might hold on to this one for really sunny trips but after spending 2 days in rain it really isn't the tent for me unfortunately :( For someone who literally packs up before the crack of dawn and is moving around until dusk this might be a great tent...

Just finished PCT using Nemo hornet 1&2My PCT journey took me through the hottest deserts of all time fires, smoke reroutes 30 degrees weather in Cascades pouring rain lightning and wind that made most tents beg for mercy. I might add I’m 60 and disabled yet both tents accommodated me well why two tents N Washington tent sights just won’t accommodate people rockin duplexes so I switched out to my one for north Washington and back two the two after.

Great tent, light, comfortableThis is a well thought out tent that holds up in severe weather and does not burden your backpack. My only complaint is that it's a little tight on the bottom of the tent and two people are a tight fit. More of a 1.5 person tent. Because I use it alone most times, not a huge issue for me. Thoughtful features like the overhead light diffuser for your headlamp are a bonus. I have camped in this tent for three years now and it has seen a good deal of rain with no leakage. It also survived a serious wind event (guide out) with no issues. For the weight, you can't beat the sturdiness.
What are the floor dimensions for the Hornet 1P...only the square footage is listed. Does the minimum trail weight include the rain fly, poles, stakes...everything?
Asked by: Yorgy
Hey there Yorgy, great questions! The floor dimensions for the Hornet 1P are 81" x 43/31"; the trail weight here is for the tent body, rain fly and poles. The total packed weight for this tent would be 2 lbs even, I hope this helps!
