The Nemo Hornet 1P Tent is a ultralight tent for the solo backpacker. At just 2lbs packaged, you can toss it in your backpack and not worry about weighing yourself down. The poles are hubbed, creating a single pole so it'll be pretty difficult to leave it behind when tearing down camp. The single door provides enough space to enter with ease and there is enough room to sit up on the inside. Throw on the fly to prevent wind and rain from ruining your bed and it'll also create a vestibule for storing gear. Sleep tight, bug free.

FEATURES of the Nemo Hornet 1P Tent

  • A Large Side door makes entry/exit and access to your gear easier, and provides more coverage in the rain
  • Includes Luxury Details like the Light Pockets, volumizing guyouts, and watertight compression stuff sack
  • Hubbed pole intersections create a single pole for quick setup
  • True tub floor construction reduces seam construction and seam tape
  • Triangulated volumizing guyouts increase interior space by upto 15% using included volumizing clips
  • Inner tent has a built-in privacy panel for extended coverage and security

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good lightweight tent I've seen the reviews, both good and bad like everyone else, and it took me six months, but I kept coming back to the Hornet. I was a little nervous about the interior space and how the rain would affect it, but the pros out weighed the cons. I was finally able to use this is the rain and can say it stood up much better than I could have anticipated. It rained constantly all night, with winds 10-15mph. There was water on the floor that had seeped up, but I can attribute that to my tarp, which had water accumulated in the spots it had come up through...otherwise the tent was completely dry. I didn't seem seal or waterproof this tent in anyway either-it was as is, from Nemo. As for the space issue, I've accepted the fact most tents billed as 2p are really meant for 2 average size people and its going to be tight. Being 5'11" and 220lbs, I was able to easily stretch out with out touching the ends, with my gear and my dog.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super light, spacious, modest rain resistance I purchased I purchased the Hornet 2P for a 2018 AT thru hike. I used the tent from my February 25th start thru my July 21st Katahdin summit. Overall I like the tent a lot but wished it had more moisture resistance. Pros: - Super lightweight - Packs small - Two side vestibules are very convenient. It was common that my stealth sites had uneven terrain and while I would only enter/exit from one vestibule, that side shifted from site to site! Something I never envisioned prior to the hike. Cons: - It is super lightweight which means everything is thin; the poles and material. I tore out the stitching on one vestibule and two separate pole attachment points partially pulled out from the screening. Fortunately it was small enough that few bugs could enter. And I broke a pole but that was mostly my fault when I tripped. - The Hornet will let water in through both the floor and through the fly on wet days. I applied more seam sealer to the corners of the tub and that helped but the floor could still wet out. Worse, the fly will let in water if there's consistent rain. And I applied DWR on that as well to no avail. I suppose this is what happens when you use super light materials. Overall I still loved my Hornet but wish it could be more moisture resistant.and used the

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Extremely cramped for 1 I bought this tent for it's light weight, which it is. I love the opacity of the fabric, versus another more sheer popular brand. That said, the sides of this tent slope and sag so horrifically, there was no room to sit up in this tent. Now, with only 2 weeks to go before my PCT hike, I'm scrambling to find a new tent. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXPERIENCED users agree!!! This tent rocks! Looking for lightweight, functional, reliable shelter to sleep (not live) in? This is a great tent. My wife and I bought the 2P 2 years ago for a summer bike tour. It is ridiculously small (awesome for bike paniers or bikepacking packs), light, and packs a punch inversely proportional to it's size and weight. Tiny footprint allows for versatility of location (easy to find a space to put it), and it sets up quickly. I had initial reservations about the not-entirely "freestanding" corners, but with a little practice tensioning the stake-out corners, it was bomber; withstanding winds and (no joke) torrential rains in good form. I am 6' 200lbs and my wife is 5'6" 120lbs and the tent was spacious enough to serve its designed purpose... give us a place to sleep that provided shelter from the elements. We slept head to head to take advantage of the added height near the doors (2 doors were CLUTCH) and we needed to move around carefully and plan our entrance and egress carefully (so as to not "atomic elbow/knee" each other in the face or personal bits), but the tight quarters were a blissful and no brainer tradeoff for the teenie-tiny packed size and weight savings (the tent and fly can fit in a 1.5liter ultralight drybag). No, the materials are not as durable as heavier tents. On the first night, I accidentally zipped the fly into the zipper and put a tiny hole in it. Easily repaired and not repeated since. Experienced backcountry users who go into this purchase with an understanding of the trade-offs they make for the weight savings (and know how to set up a tent carefully and properly), will NOT be disappointed. If you are looking for a tent to live in (see one of the negative reviews), or use near lawnmowers, you should save your money and get a less expensive and more durable (and larger) tent (to the best of my knowledge, ultralight tents are not build/tested to withstand lawnmower shrapnel.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This tent is str8 dope. Good tent. Fits large klymit v luxe 30x76 pad. I'm 6'1" and it's just big enough for me. No spare room. So basically a perfect fit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fell apart on first use... I wish this tent had lived up to my expectations... Looks great, easy to assemble and super-light. Rode out some massive thunderstorms high and try whike others were totally rained out. Sadly the materials are just not durable. Lived in mine for 4 weeks and within the first few days the insect mesh had come apart from the seam simply by opening the zipper a few times a day. The hole just got bigger. A passing lawnmower throwing up debris puncrured the fly easily while my neighbours less expensive tents were not affected at all. Ended up giving it away in disgust. Sorry guys, look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Amazing Home! I have had this tent for over a year. I used it for 5.5 months while hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2017. The tall interior is great for sitting up, and made it easy to change clothes. I always had enough room along the sides of the tent to lay out items and I kept my pack in the tent with me. I guess I technically slept backwards with my feet and pack by the door. At 5ft 9in I could stretch out nice and long without any issues! I always stayed dry and this thing is pretty freaking toasty inside. During hot weather, there is great airflow and I only ever felt too warm if I was in direct sunlight, but that was never for long and you can always take the fly off/ open the vestibule. I could not have asked for a better home for nearly half a year. It is still in great shape and I have no doubts that it has many more adventures left in it with proper care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable Tent I used the Nemo Hornet 1P tent last year during my hiking adventures. This tent lasted me for all 2,200 miles and is still in decent shape! I have been in all types of weather with this tent and it has held up fine. I stayed dry during rainstorms and the tent held up well during nights with 80+ mph winds. This tent did not get a tear in the fabric even after traveling through the unforgiving terrain of the desert. I really enjoyed how easy it was to set up and also how light it is. I'd highly recommend this tent.

Info above mentions that it is first a 1p tent and later a 2p tent. While looking at it, I would think that it is a 1p tent... which is it?
