Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid camping tent I bought this as an early wedding present for my wife and I (mostly myself) since I'd never had a "real" tent before. I liked the tweener-ness appeal of it, as I'm mostly a car camper but don't have a lot of storage room in my car or apartment so I like to keep my gear's footprint small and light. My wife and I have used it three times this summer, and I wouldn't say I love it, but I really like it. PROS: Incredibly easy to set up (like maybe 7 minutes for two people, from out of the bag to staked in), the mesh and poles and fabric is of good quality, light for how roomy it is, the near vertical side walls are nice especially when I use a cot, I'd say it's a true-to-size 4-person tent but a luxurious 2- or 3-person tent (you can lay the long way and still have room at your feet for gear), the gear and light pockets are minimal but useful, the door is easy to use and not excessively tight and difficult to close like I've had with other tents (it's great to have it unzip on both sides), plenty of stakes included. CONS: The vestibule entrance (and floorspace for that matter) is comically small, both height-wise and width. I'm 6' and have to duck and kind of contort sideways just to fit my shoulders past the opening — not the most comfortable action, but it seems like it's more meant for battening down the hatches which I can kind of get. Second and lastly, as I think another reviewer mentioned, the fly sits really weird on the sidewalls of the tent. It's hard to explain, but it just kinda hangs over the ends of the two supporting crossing poles, without anything to keep the end of the fly from slipping up the poles and potentially exposing the mesh on your tent. Tensioning out the tent helps this but I still noticed some slippage. I would have like to maybe seen some small pockets on the inside of the sidewall ends of the rainfly for the ends of the supporting poles to nest in for some tension and insurance the fly won't slide up. I haven't used this tent in the rain yet so not sure how the vestibule/rain fly issues (which are relatively minor for my uses for this tent) will impact my view of it, but yeah, I'd recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great 4 person tent I was looking for a more packable tent to take backpacking and the crew at the East Lansing store suggested this one. They ordered it in and I set it up right in the store. The tent goes up really easy. There is plenty of room inside for the four of us. The green zipper was a great surprise. It stands out at night! We slept in it last night. There was plenty of room. It was great to be under the stars once again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awkward rainfly My fiance and I wanted a bigger tent for the 2 of us for front country camping. We have camped in it about 4 times now. Mostly its a great tent. The tent seems durable, easy to put up, attractive, and roomy. We haven't experienced rain in it yet, but have been using the fly because of cold weather. My only complaint is that the rainfly fits funny. It pulls the sides down so the tent is not taut and kind of crumpled on the sides so that they rustle in the wind. I check every time to make sure we are putting it on correctly, but it seems this is just the way it is. Also when the rainfly is on it is difficult to get in the tent. It seems a little silly to have a 5 foot tall tent that you have to crawl into because of the rainfly. We bought the tent on a pro deal, so we are fairly happy with it, but if we had paid full price, I would be a little more disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD TENT (with a few caveats) I've been waiting a while to leave a review to make sure that I was happy with the tent. I like that it uses standard features such as an eyelet interface with the pole ends and plain clips to hang the tent from the poles as opposed to specialist connections such as those on the models with 'Jakes Feet' connections - I'm sure they may be good, but I prefer a simpler set-up for field maintenance reasons. This is also why I have a Galaxi 2P for my small tent as opposed to the more advanced designs. Although this is a 4P tent, and can be used as one effectively (although you'd want to be close!) due to the steep walls, I use this as a 2P tent with Mezzo Loft Lux. & Cosmo XL combo's which I find to be a perfect set-up that is roomy and comfortable. I've been in the rain quite a few times and it has held up well although I'd be a little worried if the forecast were for consistent heavy rain and high winds as I would expect the high-cut sides on the fly to allow the weather in in such adverse conditions. On the down side the vestibule is quite small (especially if you are using it for either an extended period or for four people in adverse conditions) but enough for most circumstances I'd use the tent for. WARNING: I purchased the optional 'Garage' extension as a means to increase the under cover area and I definitely regret it. It is expensive, fussy to erect and definitely does not attach as clean and taut as the photos would indicate. Whilst I may use it again occasionally, I doubt it would be very often. All-in-all, I think this tent is great if you intend to use it for car camping, short family hikes or those who like a really big 2P tent. It is well made, sets-up easy and has a nice look/feel to it. I am happy with my purchase of this tent and enjoy using it and expect that I shall continue to do so for many years to come. PS: One other thing to keep in mind is that it only has a single vestibule. This is fine if you sleep N. to S. but if like me you use it E. to W. to get more length from the tent keep in mind that one person will have to climb over another if they need to get out in the night!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a tent for all seasons From the bear country of Brooks Falls Alaska to the heat and sand of the desert southwest, this tent and the one it replaces handled the task without a problem. The rain, the dust, the sun and heat. No issues at all!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "may be the best family tent available" We bought this tent after my wife insisted the Losi 3P was a bit small for us, and 3 grandkids. In theory she is correct, but I'm a bigger fan of lightweight materials, and minimal space. But, if you're married, you already know who won.. After sitting this baby up in the Smokies for a long weekend car camping trip, I began to appreciate the added room, and solid build quality. This baby is huge for its class, as the grandkids can standup and walk around inside. This tent is a breeze to setup, and can be anchored down plenty for rough weather. We also bought the optional gear loft, for extra storage. And we also bought the inside paw cover, for added floor protection. The only slight complaint may be the heavier poles, and the not so tight "re-packing" of the tent. (Of coarse, this could be human All in all, this is a top quality tent. made of top notch materials. As stated, this isn't really meant for lightweight trail packing. It's an excellent car camping tent, that serves it's purpose...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased 4 family car-camping/short backpacks We've had this tent now for about a year and I've been very pleased with it for car camping and shorter backpack trips. First trip was car camping in Washington's San Juans in mostly good weather. We purchased the add-on Garage vestibule as well. Tent is very roomy for me, wife, and 2 kids, plus a medium sized dog. Easy setup. Quality is comparable to other high-end tents, with which I have a lot of experience (MSR, Sierra Designs, Marmot, REI, North Face, etc.) Garage is also pretty easy to set up, though I'm lukewarm on the connection, mainly just the aesthetics of it. But it's a good seal and really extends the utility of the shelter and could be used in really foul weather for eating, etc. (not in bear country). Did several other trips in the inland Northwest where bug protection has been the primary need for a tent....did that fine. Most recent trip was on Washington's rainy Olympic Coast. We packed the tent on a 9-mile backpacking loop and got plenty of rain en route. On one particularly wet night, we ended up getting water pooling around on the ground adjacent to the tent. The tent's floor performed really well, in fact I detected zero water on the tent's floor. I'm used to really high-end, lightweight solo and 2-person backpacking tents built of lighter materials....but at a cost. In this case, the heavier weight construction of the floor (I guess it's a bathtub floor design) really paid off and I didn't mind hauling the extra weight. Especially with a 4yo and 6yo on the trip. I've recommended this tent to a number of my family friends and would absolutely re-purchase. Just know that it's borderline too-heavy for serious backpacking. But that's all relative. We might outgrow it for backpacking once my kids are old enough to do more than about 3 miles in a day.
