Rated 4 out of 5 by from Details well thought out They couldn’t have done a better job with this pack. I have Terraplane pack that I have used for years with my wife and 3 girls. I needed all that extra space to be sure I had enough room to carry my stuff and some comforts for my girls. This pack is just as great, they basically took the Terraplane features and made them smaller for this pack. I can’t wait to use it on my upcoming trek this summer! Great Job!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An absolute failure I bought this about a month ago, as a long time mystery ranch and Dana designs product user in a specialized user group (wilderness ranger and Sar) I seek the features that are mission critical for my job in the wilderness. This pack has been an absolute bummer, The zippers seemed “sticky to me when purchased and after a matter of several weeks completely failed. I made it through my 35 day trip thanks to some duck tape and parachute cord, but this product was an absolute failure and I regret the 350.00 I spent on it, having already been extremely wary of mystery ranch’s outsourcing of pack production to Vietnam I am utterly astounded at the lack of quality compared to their previous pack lines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top-quality, bomber pack. Good for tall torsos From 10 feet away this pack doesn't look like much. It is extremely plain; very little visual "flair" or branding. It doesn't really look "technical". But, that is part of what makes it so good; there is no wasted stitch or material. Prior to this pack, I used a Baltoro 70 for about 10 years. Weighing both packs, the Baltoro comes to 6.05 pounds (Large) and the Glacier (XL) to 6.3 pounds. Looking at the two packs side-by-side though, I was struck by the total lack of extraneous detail on this pack; it is basically all 500D Cordura, nylon webbing, suspension mesh and padding. There are no branded ribbons sewn in, no fancy "technical" fabrics or gimicks--it's 6.3 pounds of pure function and durability. Granted, that's a heavy pack, but if you're into long alpine treks, comfortably and reliably carrying lots of shtuff is golden. The suspension is extremely comfortable for me. I'm 6'5" and had no trouble adjusting for torso length and getting the weight to the front of my shoulders instead of the top (has been a problem with other packs). It does not have an articulating suspension, but I nevertheless find it extremely easy to move in. It has plenty of compression strapping (even some internal stuff I haven't quite figured out yet) that results in a nicely stable pack. I like the "torpedo" style pockets down the back; it's very easy to store and access a variety of items. The side-zip access is somewhat stymied by the two zig-zag compression straps, but I don't see a practical alternative. I have barely begun to test the durability at this point, but I expect it to be extremely long-lived, possibly the last pack I buy. The materials are solid and the stitch-work is nearly flawless. Again, there is no gimmickry to break down on you. My one real complaint is the size of the hydration bladder sleeve; it is way too small for the 4L bladder I like to use. I had to rig up my own suspension. A 2L fits. I don't have a 3L to try--if it does, it'd be a close thing. I'm a little surprised that this brand does not seem to have a more mainstream following--it seems to be a back-room secret. That may be related to the fact that it doesn't stand out just by looking at it. But, if you're into function, you should give it a shot.

I would like to know where the mystery ranch glacier 70 packs in your inventory are made? Is it from the Phillipines or Vietnam ?

Asked by: Sidd
Hey there, Sidd! Great question. I took a look at a pack from our warehouse, and I can tell you that it was made in the Philippines. I hope this helps!
