Rated 3 out of 5 by from No built in striker Works great in the wind sure but it doesn't have a striker. We brought this and a jet boil on a 7 day hike. Ended up using the jet boil every day because of the inconvenience of having to light it with a lighter. This product would be amazing if it just had its own ignition system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great stove. Boils water faster than Jetboil and the tolerances between the cookware and the tabs on the stove allow for separation of the two during precarious situations with water boiling over. Only wish this stove worked with flat bottom cookware, if attempted there is no air flow and the burner is extinguished. Would like to see and adapter like jetboil makes for their stoves for standard cookware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and effective in strong wind We used it (and other pots in our Windburner kit) recently with our new Windburner stove, during strong springtime winds at Green River State Park in Utah. It worked very well, and so fast that I learned not to turn my back on it for more than a minute!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Other pots and pans will NOT work This system will boil water just fine. Beyond that, all of your cooking needs will be complicated. None of my pots and pans will work as the air is trapped out and puts out the flame. You will be forced to purchase the $70 and $80 skillet and pots that are specific to this system. Also, the lid on the provided boil pot does not like to go onto the pot. It pops off, over and over again. Expensive. Fail. Stick with JetBoil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boils water faster then anything i've tested When i bought this product, I've decided to test it out at home to see if I was able to use it and to see if it worked properly. The first time i tried it on the field it was extremely windy, and it was about 4000 feet elevation. And it failed due to a overheating problem. At first i was disappointed because it was its first real trial, and it failed. After it has cooled down, i decided to try it again and it worked perfectly. And since then, it performed flawlessly without any problems (about 100 times). It boils water so fast my coffee was still burning hot even after I finished prepping my meal with the stove. It's compact, easy to put together BUT* you need to be careful with the bottom part (the bowl) and not put it too tight or you will have trouble removing it (especially with gloves). Bottom line, it performed well with gusts of winds over 70km/h and performer well in temperatures -15 below zero celsius.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Melting snow If you're melting snow for more than one person this makes the job a lot more efficient than using the 1 liter pot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Personal Stove On The Market! The Windburner boils water fast no matter what altitude or temperature. I enjoy minimalist backpacking and camping in many different conditions, and this always comes with and always performs. It is compact, lightweight, and conservative with fuel. At sea level, it boils at a rate of 1 cup per minute. A full 4 cups takes 4 minutes. I did find that cooking food in the Windburner tends to burn some of the food and creates a difficult cleanup. As an alternative to excessive cleaning, I pair this with a double wall insulated food canister from Miir. I place my dry meal in the food canister, boil water with the Windburner, and then add boiling water to my Miir food canister, seal the lid, shake, and wait about 15 mins. This gives me time to set up my tent, sleep system, and clean myself up a bit before enjoying a warm meal. For cleanup, I boil a bit more water, add to the food canister, seal, and shake. I use the canister to store temperature sensitive foods like a bit of chocolate too. When car camping, I bring a couple insulated howlers and fill with boiling water in the morning to be used for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Ten minutes and I have 64 oz of piping hot water. I am always impressed/surprised with the number of times I can use a fuel canister. My backpacking buddies love it too! They never bring a kitchen, just a food canister. Easy to use, compact, lightweight. If you are a backpacker, this stove is a must.
