The MSR Evo Trail Snowshoes are a trail snowshoe for traction across rolling terrain. The 22 inch length carries loads up to 180 lbs and is ready to play close to home on a day trip or a several day adventure trek into the backcountry. An 8 inch width allows for a normal, unisex gait and a pair weighs in at 3 lbs 10 oz. Steel traction bars and crampons with additional traction bars molded directly into the plastic body allow for sturdy grip along various types of snow. The plastic deck is all about durability and also helps keep the weight lower. The DuoFit bindings are super easy to use, even with mittens or gloves on, and won't freeze so once you arrive at your destination, you can have them off in a jiffy. If your adventure takes you into deep powder or you're carrying a heavier pack, add the 6-inch Float Tails (sold separately) to your Evos for a good time.

FEATURES of the MSR Evo Trail Snowshoes

  • UniBody Deck with Integrated Traction: Steel traction rails and brake bars molded directly into snowshoe decks provide a secure and lasting grip
  • DuoFit Binding delivers ample, freeze-proof and glove-friendly security, easily accommodating a wide range of footwear
  • Optional Modular Flotation tails allow for the maneuverability of a smaller shoe with the on-demand flotation of a tail for powder or heavier loads
  • Classic Crampon

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bang for the bucks This basic MSR model of snowshoes is well constructed, designed to do its job well which gives you excellent floatation and bites the snow well on inclines. It’s the best price you get for the high quality for snowshoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy these! With a lifetime warranty, how can you go wrong? So easy to buckle into these babies; they grab the snow well, float and scoot in the powder, chomp onto the ice. Totally sturdy. Handle uneven terrain beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Snowshoes These snowshoes work great, highly recommended. The binding system is pretty easy to use. I have only used them once, but they seem like they will be pretty durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Only tried them once so far, but they seem to work great! Tried them in about half a foot of semi packed snow. Was out for about an hour and they felt like large extensions of my feet :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Add heel lift and its an easy 5 star Gottem out on the trail and they were nice. Turns easy, holds well going down hill and comfy for the 5 hours i got to spend in them. The straps were comfortable. No blisters or rawness. I havent had them in desp snow yet so can't say how the floatation tails work yet. It has no heel lift which isn't a big deal for me until i add the tails on. Then i think I might be looking for them. Who knows, time will tell for me. So in short, They are well made, Well thought out, nicely balanced, comfortable, inexpensive, very maneuverable, grip well and pretty light. The only issue i have is the heel lifters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the money, hard to do any better For avid day-snowshoers, these are perfect. High quality, easy bindings, not the prettiest things ever but I didn't buy them for how they looked. I snowshoe around the major CO ski areas, mostly national forest trails but some off trail too, and they do great. I've looked at other brands but I would only go MSR. Have two pairs now, and going to buy two more for the teenagers/visitors to use.

I am a beginner at snowshoeing aka never done it before! I know which type of MSR shoes are recommended for beginners but any other advice that I need? Certain type of boots, etc.? Thanks!

Asked by: Claire
Hiya Claire, thanks for the question! MSR Evo snowshoes are a good choice for beginners, so you're off to a great start!. When selecting boots, you have a few options... Waterproof Hiking Boots are comfortable, lightweight and somewhat flexible, but water could soak in the upper material. Winter Boots are insulated and warm, and most of them have removable liners to dry out but they are bulky, stiff and not intended for all day wear. They are not very breathable. Mountaineering Boots are also insulated and warm, and have removable liners but the soles are thick and might be hard to move in. In addition to boots, you'll probably want trekking or ski poles for comfort and stability. Hope this helps!
