The MSR Elixir 2 Tent is a backpacking tent with living space for two. Spend your weeks on the trail, sleep in the woods with the protection of breathable mesh and ripstop nylon to protect as you snooze. The mesh lets air through while keeping buggies out and the rainfly (and floor) is coated to keep the wet out. Large doors and vestibules offer space for entering and exiting as well as storing your pack during the night. Tuck your headlamp in the mesh pockets on the tent walls, so you'll know just where to grab for it when you hear a bump in the night.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problem with Poles Similar to another customer, we have also had a problem with the pole splitting at the swivel after two uses. Hopefully this will be covered under warranty and doesn't happen again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problem with tent poles Due to the swivel device that holds red and grey tent poles in proper place, there is addition stress put on the tent pole sliding attachment ends. This causes pole to split and eventually fail. Requires additional strengthening to this position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tent! Great tent for its price! When I rediscovered hiking, I couldn't afford the more expensive ones and after a lot of searching, I found this! It's easy and fast to set up for one person alone and good enough ventilation. Deals with rain and windy weather in a great mannor. I often hiked alone with two large dogs and we would easily fit with space left over. When a friend went with us, we all had room and all the gear stored in the vestibules. Only thing I didn't like, was the tentpegs. They tend to loose grip no matter what angle you use them in. I've replaced half of them with lightweight pegs from seatosummit. Better grip when hiking in the mountains in northern scandinavia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mach That's good enough to true mountaineering in tropical weather. A good combo of lightweight and resistance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 3 Season Shelter Picked up the MSR Elixir 2 at the beginning of 2018. Spent 3+ weeks backpacking through Utah for a photography expedition this winter and another 3 weeks backpacking around Colorado for the remainder of the winter and start of spring. It has been a very windy, cold last few months while out backpacking, and the tent has performed beautifully. Very easy/ quick to set up and tear down. Very easy to shake clean during tear down, with poles and ground tarp attached to the body. Has put up with nights of rain and ice to snow with no leak problems yet. (Still have not been through a summer thunderstorm in it yet) Feels strong enough to take some decent top weight in a snow storm. Vents well with both gear vestibule half open on warmer days. Not the tent to hang out in on a hot day, but it is a 3 season. I love the different tie options for the gear vestibules. Stays anchored in high winds VERY VERY well. While exploring canyons one day away from camp the winds began to roar through the canyons, immediately turned around and bolted back to camp. Gusts in the upper 50s to 60s, tents were anchored on super fine sand, I thought there was no way our camp would be intact. When we got back Buddies REI half dome 2 was hanging on by the last thread, gear bunched in one spot on the side wall and one stake left in the ground with half the tent in a bush. In the MSR Elixir 2, my bag and gear were in the gear vestibule, with only sleeping pad and bag in the tent. It hadn't budged an inch. Both vestibules, and all guide lines were all still taught and holding perfectly. Great piece of mind as for the next 3 days we were stuck in our tents as the winds raged and sand blasted everything. I was comfy other than the non-stop flow of fine dust flowing through the mesh parts of the tent. Would wake up to clear the dust out of my nose and the entire inside of the tent was a reddish orange color of fine dust. Only Complaint is height of mesh at top and bottom could be taller.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable, rugged and reliable I bought this 3 years ago for work. This tents endured 50 mph sustained and torrential down pours for camping for work every week. The tent finally kicked the bucket but it’s a good purchase. It’s a little heavy for back packing and the pole set up is challenging first time if you’re not use to setting up tents. This tent compared to the hubba hubba held up better for rainproof and durability.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Moosejaw website said tent weighs 3.9 pounds That was false. When I received it I immediately knew it was heavier. A least 5 pounds. Website now says it weighs 80 oz. (5 pounds.) This is a good, but average tent. I bought it only because I have a multi-day hike coming up and I wanted to reduce weight. If I had known actual weight, I would have stayed with my North Face and saved a lot of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just keep doing what you doing, awesome job!!! I bought MSR Elixir 2 just for hiking and easy mountaineering but tent went with me trough Himalayas and save ours lives. Four nights above 5000 m in snow storm, wind easily over 100 kph.. highly recommend product and doesn't really matter what you doing!!
