Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough and versatile set Bought used from a coworker ~2008, been with me on every camping/festival/backpacking trip since. Built tough, 10 years in just a few dents, and has been through some scorching. Easy to clean, a bit on the heavy side, compacts nicely, small stove (pocket rocket) and fire gear can easily fit in pot. thin, so a bit of hot spotting on a stove. I recently moved to a new place and had no cookware, so started temporarily using these pots as my kit until I could buy a bigger set. 9 months on and still using them! Bought some small sauce pans and use a cast-iron skillet to supplement, but the lid of the Alpine set actually can function as a quick skillet, too! Can double boil as well, really versatile set and while one may need solid prep and be vigilant on stirring to prevent burns, you can totally cook on these at home, super durable and long lasting. No lid venting, but can invert it and leave a crack to allow venting and prevent over-boiling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nesting with Fry pan, bowls and plates This is my second 2 pot set, there was nothing wrongnwith the first set outside of where it may be hiding amongst my collection. I could not find a definite answer anywhere on how everything would nest with my XGK so i picked up the set a fry pan 2 plates and 2 bowls. In my opinion with this setup the bowls are too small of a diameter causing the XGK to not set low enough when nested inside (it would probably work with a smaller stove). But the fry pan does nest nicely under the large pot and the plates fit perfectly under the fry pan. It actually all fits back in the bag or straps together very well. I will probably use it without the smaller pot which leaves enough space for several of the spice containers, the maintenace kit silverware and small folding serving spoon and spatula in a compact package

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Straight forward pot system We have taken this system on two thru-hikes (3,000 km and 400 mi). Generally, I am happy enough with the product. It is a little large for the minimalist hiker, but I'm not mimalist enough to give up a hot meal! It takes up a little more room in my compact pack than is ideal, but we make it work. The insulated mugs are great, and my favorite thing about this set. We can heat water for tea and our dinner at the same time, large capacity. We make tea often and it keeps the liquid warm for a while, even in colder temps. I also like that it all fits inside itself, and I can store my micro-rocket within one of the mugs. The downside to this stacking system is I can't store my fuel can inside the system as well. My biggest complaint with this product is the handle for the pot. When tilting the pot to serve the food or pour water put, the handle will turn and sometimes completely fall off. It's pretty unstable (when tilting and pouring) that we don't trust it. It's difficult to get back in and Is pretty annoying. I'd probably recommend this, with the caveat of the handle..

What are the weights of the individual pieces? I am thinking I could leave 1 pan behind when I wanted to travel lighter... Also, does the lid/fry pan still have slots in the lip so I could use a shoelace strap to keep the whole unit together?

Asked by: Pedalling Pastor
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I had to bust on down to the Returns section to weigh these suckers....but it was totally worth it. They're a good bunch of folks. So, the 1.5 L pot will be 6.4 oz, and the 2 L pot will be 7.2 oz. The lid is 4.8 oz. And, yes, the lid will also have slots so you can use a strap to keep them together. Also, you do get a stuff sack with these! Hope this helps you out.
