The MSR Access 2 Tent is a backcountry tent for winter weather. The mountains in winter can often treat you with a harsh environment but with Easton® Syclone™ poles, your tent gets the support needed to withstand. The tent fabric is strong and resilient, keeping you warmer in the cold, while maintaining a low overall tent weight. Sleeps two, so you can hunker down with a pal through a storm while all the gear gets stored in the two vestibules. A door for each, so you're not scrambling over each other to put on boots when prepping for the morning's adventure.

FEATURES of the MSR Access 2 Tent

  • Strong Easton® Syclone™ poles resist breaking
  • Unique central support frame optimizes interior space, resists snow loading
  • Lighter than our mountaineering tents, warmer than our backpacking tents
  • Unified frame is easy to set up in cold conditions
  • Two doors and easy access for two people

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True backcountry pass This lite weight 4-season tent is superb, I've had it for over a year now doing ultra-lite backcountry caming in the Canadian rockies and western United States throughout winter, I never have to worry about the conitions its gotten me through monsoon rain, wind storms and even a -21 degree night, super easy to set up in the dark and/or snow. Summer in the Canadian Rockies doesn't get very warm so havnt had much of a chance to test it in warmer conditions but it handles single digits and below perfect, MSR gear loft is a must so convenient for extra gear in winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Comfy All Night. I have only used this once as of this writing so my review is far from comprehensive. I purchased it to go to Pullman, WA, for a dad's weekend event at Washington State University in early November. I was hoping for some nasty weather to give the tent a good test drive. The temps only dipped into the 30s and the snow was was light for the eeekend. Nevertheless I was impressed with how comfortable I was on both nights. I brought a zero-degree sleeping bag with me. The temp in the tent was noticeably warmer than was the outside air temperature. I stayed dry during some of the sloppy conditions I experienced at the campsite on the second night. I'm looking forward to see how it performs this winter when I take it out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Small The description, floor plan and features of this tent were everything I have been looking for for backcountry tours. The materials are top notch. Set up is easy. But... upon using it it I was severely disappointed. !st off, the poles didn't come with my tent and after contacting MSR got them shipped out. The condensation is pretty bad due to that the tent fly (no matter how much I tried) would rest on the body of the fly. The biggest failure is simply the architecture. The walls of the tent body are so low angle that it creates a large amount of unusable space. 6" of the 4 corners is too low for even a sleeping pad. to position a bad and bag so that it wouldn't touch the sidewalls I was basically in the middle of the tent. My partner and I had to curl up just so our heads and feet didn't push against the walls. The condesation that built up dripped onto our heads and feet soaking our bags. This tent needs to go back to the drawing board in my opinion to be considered for use in the snow. This tent would work as a 1 person (under 6') great. But for 2 people, no way

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A good tent, but! I have been looking for a tent like the Access 2 for the last 4 years. In that time I have tried at least 4 others, including the MSR Hubba (which I still have) and North Face's Big Fat Frog. The Access 2 ticked all the boxes for me. I have now used it on two separate kayak touring trips, one in the summer and one in the autumn. There are many pros to the tent, including space, stability and weight. The one thing that has disappointed me however, is that on the last Autumn trip to Scotland, the tent suffered badly from condensation. The outer material of my down sleeping mat and my Exped mat were both damp. The roof of the inner tent was also damp. If this had been a long expedition, then it would have been a major problem for me. Although there are two net vents in the inner tent above each doorway, there are non in the outer tent, which means air circulation is very limited, especially if the outer fly is pulled down tight to keep out rain or snow. I think the tent would benefit from two vents on the outer fly to aid air circulation. The main reason for buying this tent was that it provided a tent that would enable me to camp in comfort throughout the year. I'm not sure that this tent in its present form, will allow that. The review asks whether I would recommend the tent to a friend or not. The reason for buying the tent was for the 4 season use of the tent. On balance, at the moment I would not recommend it for autumn/winter use unless the condensation issue is addressed. Other than this issue, it is an excelllent tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tent I used this tent while finishing my 2017 PCT thru-hike in the Sierras. With temperatures in the teens, it was a welcome improvement over my 3-season tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This tent will soil you, and you'll hate all other tents. Your tent doesn't need to be set up all day when camping. Take advantage of the easy set up and take down. I set it up in the dark with no lights in under 5 minutes. It's that easy and the cost is worth it. Plus when you leave the site to go hunting, fishing or exploring, it won't get stolen. When it's hot, having your tent down during the day keeps it from being too hot later when you set it up to sleep. It will be warmer enough for you to notice it at night, that's the comfort you pay for. Ad the topper for more warmth, but expect to ad some time and maybe a light to the set up. The bottom of the tent feels flimsy, and some camp sites are rocky, but it has held up fine and the floor still looks brand new. This tent is an investment. Use it but don't abuse it. Get that annual camping pass, you can live in it if you wanna save money not paying for apartments. Shoot it, rough it, ruck it, and you'll end up loving it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tent test on Pulk recce expedition I am a huge fan of MSR equipment, especially in this world of so many other outdoor equipment manufacturers to easily confuse us by claiming that their equipment is the best. To this date MSR equipment has ever failed me on our trips. My initial thought thought was that it was a bit on the pricey side (as it is similar to the Elixir tent and I have one of those too and are a fantastic tents), and I know allot of thought has gone into this clever concept of tent, it would have been excellent if there was a way to pack some snow against the sides to stop spin drift accumulating on the inside, and I know MSR sell snow pegs, but as the tent is predominately used in the snow, some snow pegs as standard would have been great ..apart from that its fantastic, I bought the two man version as I prefer to have my equipment inside the tent as well in the winter season. so for one person it was perfect and you can fit two people in with large mattresses and sleeping bags with ease. For a tent so light it is extremely warm inside. I will be buying plenty more for our winter trips as it suits the environment that we work in perfectly....oh and one last thing, when you are cold and have little dexterity in your fingers due to cumbersome mittens or gloves it goes up in no time and is so easy to put up. Keep up the great work:)
