Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket, light and warm! Runs slightly big if not layering consistently Quite long but with the synch cords it can ride at your waist and lock in warmth. It is light, warm and spacious. You can just not use the thumb loops, if I'm not wearing gloves or don't want them I push them back into the sleeve. I am 170 and 5'9" medium was a bit large on me but I like the roomy fit for layers and mobility. Durability of the zipper and fabric after using outdoors is TBD. But all feels solid so far. Wish the zipper was larger and beefier (would take the extra grams for the durability and ease)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good and compressible ! excellent and warm ! been using it at 25000ft as a 2nd layer as well as a primary in the Alps, just love it !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I bought this for a Baker/Rainier trip. Traditionally, I hate thumb loops. I don't use them on sun shirts, and I despise them on fleece jackets. However the design of the cuff on this jacket along with the thumb hole is perfect. I slide my arms into the sleeves and my hands just seem to naturally find the dumb holes, and I don't even notice. I wore the jacket every night on Baker and Rainier and stayed toasty warm. It was even the perfect pillow packed up in a stuff sack at night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nylas I have owned my Nylas Parka for 5 years and at 9 degrees I’m Warm as toast. I wear layers under it when I’m camping in extreme conditions. I also have a lumina -30 bag. Best bag I have ever owned. I’m warm at 0 degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6000 Meter Jacket The Nilas jacket is perfect as an outer layer. The quality of the jacket is awesome as well as it’s wind breaking ability. Paired with a mid layer jacket, the Nillas jacket will take you to 10F (Chimborazo for me)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Down Jacket I bought this jacket for a trip to Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis. It has two deep external side zippered pockets and 2 inside chest pockets. It zips up the front all the way up to my nose, while the hood covers my head well. The only weak point of the jacket is a flimsy zipper pull in the front. I'm 5'8" and weigh 150lb - the medium fits me perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in Vermont for Winter I bought for Rainier climb which ended at Disappointment Cleaver. Have had many chances to wear in Vermont (my home) this winter. It is my go to jacket for extreme cold days. Super soft and warm and comfy. Love the thumb hole cuffs as well as the stuff sack that came with jacket. Very durable shell material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must-have for the coldest summits and belays Like a warm cocoon on the coldest days, this parka is a life saver when it gets bitter cold. I have used this for alpine ascents at altitude and at never-ending ice climbing belays in New England, and it has not let me down. For the warmth, it packs small and light. Durability seems good, even around ice screws and pickets. It hasn't seen much precip, but seems to shed moisture well. My climbing partners are jealous of the cozy cuffs. The two-way zip is key for belaying, and it had plenty of storage space for a water bottle or gloves. I ordered my normal size and have no problem fitting it over multiple layers.

what is the difference between "state orange" and "state orange 842"

Asked by: TomK
Hello there and thanks for a great question. State Orange 842 is the new and Improved orange for 2021. Regular state orange is a dumb old 2020 orange. That's pretty much it, the colors themselves are very similar, it boils down to an age difference. Hope this helps Love the Madness

how is this jacket compared to TNF L6 cloud? this shows 850 vs 800 power down, but TNF cloud looks a lot more puffier and warmer

Asked by: J_Nap
Hey there, thanks for your question. Both of these jackets are using comparable down, once your above 800, most people cant feel any difference. The noticeable difference comes from how much down is actually used. The TNF L6 cloud is a belay parka so it's designed for standing still in freezing temperatures, after working up a sweat. Therefore, the jacket is overstuffed with insulation making it incredibly warm. The downside however is that it's also going to be much heavier and bulkier than a normal down puffy. This Mountain Hardwear Nilas Jacket doesn't have quiet as much down but they are a bit more strategic with the down placement making this jacket fit and breathe better for more active pursuits. I hope this helps!

Is this real duck down?

Asked by: exitleft
Great question! YES, the insulation is real goose down. There is 215 grams of 90% goose down and 10% goose feather :)
