Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pants!! I’m a diehard kuhl and northface pants person, but mountain hardware has totally won me over with these pants. The fact that I can buy them in a 30 x 34 is awesome. The a perfect waist fit but having the built in “belt” was an added bonus. Fairly athletic so I found them a little snug in the above knee area but didn’t bother me because the stretch on these pants is incredible. Gives me free range of motion while climbing without the added bulk. Comfortable to wear socially and hiking as well!

Are they quiet enough for bowhunting mountain game?

Asked by: Conservationist
Hey there, Conservationist! We grabbed a pair of these pants to check on the silence factor for you, and they're not the quietest pair of pants you'll find. The fabric is quieter than a lot of nylon blends, but they still make a slight rustling sound. Since they're designed for general climbing, hiking and backpacking, and not specifically for hunting, silence isn't their most prominent feature. We get that silence really matters for bowhunting mountain game, so you don't scare anything away. We recommend pants that have fabric that is technically engineered to be silent, such as Fjallraven's Men's Karl Trousers, which feature patented G-1000 Silent fabric (a polyester and cotton blend). Here's a link to those trousers: https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Fjallraven-Men-s-Karl-Trousers_10202421_10208_10000001_-1_ We also sell other brands that feature styles that are specifically designed for hunting, such as Filson's Men's Mackinaw Field Pant, which is made of Merino Wool: https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Filson-Men-s-Mackinaw-Field-Pant_10266538_10208_10000001_-1_ There is also Carhartt's Men's Rugged Flex Rigby Camo Dungaree Pant, which is a cotton blend: https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Carhartt-Men-s-Rugged-Flex-Rigby-Camo-Dungaree-Pant_10321298_10208_10000001_-1_ These brands, styles and fabrics might give you the silence you're looking for. Hope this helps!

Would these pants be good for a 14er hike in 20 degree weather?

Asked by: Annieo
Hey there Annieo, Great question. The Mountain Hardwear Chockstones are excellent pants for climbing - durable, stretchy, and if you want to bag that 14,000 foot peak, they aren't going to hold you back. As for warmth, I would suggest wearing a next-to-skin layer, bearing in mind that the pants themselves fit like a glove. So size wisely. Hope this helps!
