Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Synthetic Bag in the Market I forgot to add the period above. With this bag, you can almost cover the demands for 3 seasons in most of the USA. Did you know that it weighs in at less than many of the 'popular' brands 40 degree down bags? How about the fact that it can keep you warm even if the outside gets damp from all that dew that accumulates at night when you 'cowboy camp' at slightly less than 40 degrees? And it super-dries fast! This is one of a handful of 'set it and forget it' bags that soldiers on without a care in the world. At 5'11", 200 lbs, 33 inch waist and 44 inch chest I still have all the room I need. The center zipper makes it for easy access in and out the middle of the night. There is simply no competition in the synthetic bag market. I wonder what would happen if MHW decided to make blanket versions of this bag and the Hyperlamina Flame 20.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HyperLamina Spark 35 Since the loss of my MH sunrise 55 degree bag, I’m a hot sleeper so 35 maybe overkill for me. Attention to detail is MH signature, the center zip is new to me, and so far is a good idea, although fully unzipping is not possible. This is a allround bag, good to pack for longer treks and very compressible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice down alternative Nice weight for being a synthetic bag. I really like the center zip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light synthetic bag for the money! I’ve used this bag extensively in Utah, Colorado, on Mount Baker, the Wind River Range, and in the Bugaboos. I’m 5’10”/178cm and the regular fits me well. The bag is actually quite roomy and comfortable. For a synthetic bag it is fairly light and packable. Good to about 35F/2C. A down bag would save weight and pack smaller, but not only will it cost you more money, it will be more fragile and susceptible to moisture issues. The center zip is nice for us side sleepers, but makes it awkward to use unzipped as a quilt in warmer temps (the hood is in your face). Great choice for moderate temps in wetter climates!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product, different than advertised I absolutely LOVE this bag as long as I use it correctly. Packs down nice and small. Doesn't weigh much of anything. My only complaint is that it definitely is not a 35 degree bag. I just went on a hike on the Fire Creek Rim Trail in NC. It was around 34-40 degrees each night and i was still pretty chilly. I had to wear 2 pairs of socks, pants, and a shirt to stay comfortably warm. I would say this is more of a 45-50 degree sleeping bag. Other than that, the construction is sound and its a great bag.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So, so, cold.... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this bag at REI late last year. I knew it wouldn't be a 4 season bag, but I was looking for something much lighter than my down EMS bag. I shopped around a ton and fell in love with the weight and design of this bag, at least in theory. I was looking for something that could be a 3 season bag...but this, sadly may not be the best bag for everyone if any of your 3 seasons run the risk of getting below 40 degrees at any point. I took the bag out this last weekend to do 2 days near, then on the Appalachian Trail in PA. My first night out, I set the bag up on my Thermarest and inside an MSR one person tent. Typical set-up...just with a new bag. When I got around to crawling into this super lightweight bag, I was skeptical it was going to keep me warm, and unfortunately, I was right! I started out in underwear, long sleeve thermal tee, and a beanie. I tried to get to sleep but could warm up. So I threw on a Buff to keep my neck warmer, and some clean dry wool socks. Tried again. Couldn't sleep and started experiencing some real discomfort. I dozed off for a bit, but woke due to the pain from cold in my feet. I got out of the bag, put on clothes, threw on the rainfly, to cut down on the little wind there was on this crystal clear night. Tried again....was still freezing. I finally broke down and pulled my pants on, along with light gloves and my nano puff jacket. I took my shell jacket, zipped it up and slid it over the foot of my bag as another layer. This all let me finally get to sleep but I woke with totally numb toes (spooked me in fact). I opened the tent and grabbed my water bottle. It hadn't frozen overnight, so it wasn't that cold. I turned on my phone to check the overnight temp. It hadn't gotten below 37 degrees, but the wind I'm sure added some chill. This bag is cool looking and crazy lightweight. A winner for Summer camping where I anticipate warm temps overnight, but I had to bail after one night out on the trip I described above because I didn't want to risk the temperatures actually getting worse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sleeping bag but a little long [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bag is super comfortable and easy to use. With the addition of a liner I was able to stay warm at below freezing temps at 7,200 ft. I'm 5'6" and my only complaint is that the bag is a little long for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lightweight, but not for the cold; Love packability [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this for a 110 mile section of the AT in November. It did rain 3 days, but what gets me is this bag I was so cold. I normally sleep naked in my bags and I slept with 3 layers of clothes and still was cold. 32 is the lowest it dropped down to, and man I was hating myself for not bringing my other bag. I do love how light and packable it is. I will come back after using it in spring time and re rate it.

About how far does the zip go down in the long length in comparison to your body? Is it possible to get some air to your feet?

Asked by: Aaron l
Hey there, The zipper on the Long Length of this would go down to about your waist, depending on your body type and height. The zipper ends halfway down the bag to help lock in warmth and prevent cold spots along the lower half of the bag, so sadly it can be difficult to get air moving down there. I would suggest leaving the bag unzipped for a few minutes when you need to cool down to allow the outside air to travel down through the bag.
