The outer shell of the Mt Elliott Insulated Waterproof Jacket is a 100% seam-sealed 10k/10k waterproof/breathable 2-layer fabric. It’s insulated with 133g in the body and 100g in the arms of PrimaLoft© Silver to keep you warm even on the worst winter days. The hood is removable and insulated, plus we included a balaclava (hidden in interior back neck pocket). The collar is lined with cozy fleece and the comfort cuffs have thumb holes so it can work as a glove liner. We integrated the powder skirt to make this a solid jacket for hitting the slopes or the windy cities (I'm looking at you, Chicago).

  • Zippered forearm stash pocket great for holding your I.D. or that hottie's phone number.
  • There is a 2-way adjustable and removable hood, so you can decide when and how you'd like to wear it, if at all.
  • Stretch comfort cuffs with thumb hole locks out snow and ice, and locks in warmth.
  • Adjustable integrated powder skirt fists comfortably around your body to prevent snow from going where it doesn't belong.
  • Durable YKK Aquaguard center front zipper and hand pocket zippers help to prevent the elements from sneaking in. So sneaky.
  • Two interior mesh pockets to hold your phone, lip balm, or absolutely nothing.
  • Interior zipper pocket with a custom antler bottle opener for those easy nights drinking around the fire.

My first coat lasted 3 years before I decided to replace it. Same coat, same style. Love it so much! It is the perfect coat. Not too heavy but I never get cold either. I live in South Dakota where the weather can get pretty darn cold. It always keeps me plenty warm, as long as I layer properly of course (and I mean just having a sweater under my coat) and the temperatures never keep me away from the outdoors. I walk everyday regardless of what the weather has in store because this beauty keeps me perfectly comfy. The pockets are amazing! I love pockets and this coat offers plenty. The only drawback is that this updated style has removed the top leftside exterior pocket. Such a bummer since I could safely keep my phone in the pocket. Still an amzing coat! Great quality, great price, great functionality, and very comfortable! Amazing!

Will this jacket with stand Icelandic weather in January and Antarctica in March?

Hey Enya, good question! There are so many variables when it comes to temperature ratings, it is very dependent upon a person's natural body temp and comfort. I can say that this jacket has the same amount of fill as the Arcteryx Women's Fission SV Jacket, and that we've had other customers email us photos of them mountain hiking while wearing our Mt. Elliott jacket. I hope this helps!

What is the difference between black and crow/wine? Is the interior lining of both a wine/burgundy color?

Hiya Julz, thanks for your question! Crow / Wine is last year’s color (2015) and Black is this year’s color (2016). The lining on the Crow / Wine color has more of a purple hue, while the Black is a deeper red. Hope this helps!

What kind of waterproofing is used on this jacket ?

Thanks for reaching out! The Mt. Elliott does not have DWR. The 2-layer fabric is seam sealed - which makes it waterproof and windproof. The fabric has a rating of 10K. Hope this helps!

Would this jacket be considered a shell?

Hey there Tomipp, This jacket is not considered JUST a shell, it's considered to be an insulated shell. The outer layers of the Mt Elliott Insulated Waterproof Jacket are a 100% seam-sealed 10k/10k waterproof/breathable fabric, which is good, however the jacket is also loaded with PrimaLoft synthetic insulation for tons of added warmth. Hey, Laura! Great question! If you're in between sizes, I would definitely size up, especially since you'll probably want to layer your clothes or wear a nice sweater underneath, especially in cold weather. I'd give yourself a little extra room in this jacket. I hope this helps!
