Rated 4 out of 5 by from Such a splendid coat this is I fell in love with this the moment I tried it on. It fits like a glove that you wear around your upper, a jacket. It's got a ton of pockets which, if cargo shorts are any indicator, are going to make people look up to you as a true fashion pioneer. It even has a bottle opener attached to an elastic string in one of the chest pockets so you'll never have to deal with bloody fingers or a chipped tooth ever again while trying to crack open a cold one. The hood has a dual purpose of keeping your hair dry while also making you look like a complete goon while it's on, so you'll need to decide if a few moments of embarrassment in the rain are worth preserving your assumingly fabulous hairstyle. As far as the fit goes, I'm 6' and 175lbs and I wear a small, although if I could go back I would probably order a medium just to give myself a little more wiggle room. Anyway, get this jacket because I said so and most people that take my advice end up not regretting it. I will say that after a couple months I did have to swap the first jacket out due to some of the stitching coming undone on one of the sleeves, however it seems to be an isolated incident because I was the only one in the store at the time with the same issue and the world doesn't exist outside of my own personal experiences.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Daddy Like ! Lets start with the tail of the tape: I am 5'8" 160 LBS. athletic build, bigger shoulders narrow waist. Now that you have that lovely picture in your head lets talk about the jacket. I love it !!!. Bought a LG jacket, The material is soft internally and shell. Good number of pockets (5) good when having backpack on, although some straps come across chest pockets. Nice deeper hood. Good length past waist so it does not ride up on you with movement. Sleeves a little long, but understand why: so they do not shorten when arms are extended, such with bike riding. Warmth good, but not for arctic days. Able to wear a flees vest (Med) underneath for added warmth, without pinching at shoulders. Colors choices are good. Couple nitpicks, wish there was inner zip pocket, can get a little warm if hiking at good clip, so armpit zippers for aeration would be nice. Again at rest sleeves are a little long, but you can roll them if need to. Decent wind protection, have not had a lot of rain exposure yet so can't comment on water shedding. but feel it should do well. Lastly you can't go wrong with a jacket that has the name MOOSE JAW on it. It screams get out of my way in a nice way and includes a antler bottle opener how cool is that. Thanks for your time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Designed Jacket This jacket was perfect for a recent rainy trip to NYC. The design of the jacket, from the shape of the cuffs on the sleeves to the hidden bottle opener in the front pocket just makes sense. Well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Jacket! Great Fit, Great Performance! Worn this jacket for about a month at a construction site for work and then when outside. Performed as needed and couldn't be happier for this purchase. I love the included bottle opener in chest pocket! I wasn't as big of a fan of the sleeves. I wish they could have been a little longer for when im wearing gloves. Took me a while to get the hook adjusted to where I feel comfortable, but looking at possibly buying a second jacket just in a different color! Very Satisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and dry If used I’d for biking in rain and in tropical rain. A little warm in tropics but perfect for California style rainstorms and commuting by bike in the rain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as a lightweight ski jacket Just a few quick comments - got this as a backup for a more serious ski coat. Ended up using this jacket for most of a 5 day ski trip to Colorado. Temps were 25-50 degrees with some serious wind/snow on the last day. With a good thermal shirt and this jacket - I was just fine. Worked great against some serious wind on the lifts. I did find the left front pocket useful for phone with a passthrough for wired earphones. I thought I would like to have an inside pocket, but it ended up not being that bid of a deal. I will say that you can not have too many layers under the jacket - it is pretty form fitting at my size which was XL. Seems to be put together very well and is less expensive compared to some of the top tier brands. Overall, exactly what I wanted and it worked out very well.

Would you recommend this jacket to be used as a rain coat?

Asked by: RainHater
Hi there, thanks for your question! This jacket has DWR (Durable Water Repellent) but it is not waterproof. It should be fine in light showers or isolated rain showers, but it would not be ideal for consistent rain or torrential downpours. I would not consider it a rain jacket but it will offer rain protection in a pinch. Hope this helps!

Im 6ft 200lbs with broad shoulders. Should I order the XL or L?

Asked by: Exskier10
Thanks for the question! The Harper Hooded Jacket is longer and slightly slim fitting. If you are planning on wearing thin clothing underneath, I would get the Large. If you think you will need to add layers for those cold days, I would go with the Extra Large. I hope this helps a little!

Hi! Follow up questions: What's the length of the main zipper on a small? What kind of lining does the jacket have? Are there interior pockets?

Asked by: Jackie27
Hi there Purple Mongoose! The zipper measures 28 inches in length. There is no lining, this is a soft shell jacket. There are no interior pockets.

How does this jacket compare to the North Face's Apex Bionic 2 Hoodie? Thanks!

Asked by: Jackie27
Hi Purple Mongoose! The two jackets are very similar, however, the Moosejaw Men's Harper Hooded Softshell Jacket has a few bells and whistles. There are 2 extra exterior pockets (an additional chest pocket and one on the sleeve), an adjustable hood with a drawstring and a media port on the inside. Besides that, the biggest difference is that the North Face Men's Apex Bionic 2 Jacket has a soft fleece lining.

What are the pockets made of? Are they lined in any way?

Hiya Jackie27, thanks for your question! The pockets have a soft "micro fleece" like polyester lining. Hope this helps!

I am 6'1" and 190 lbs. want to use the jacket in varying temperatures, ranging from 50 degrees down to high 20 degrees. So I need some room for layering underneaththe jacket. Do I order large or extra large.

Asked by: Harper hooded softshell
Hi there, thanks for your question! This jacket might run a bit small in the shoulders and underarms and since you plan to wear plenty of layers underneath it, I would recommend sizing up. Hope this helps!

* To get the most accurate measurement, use a flexible measuring tape and refer to the measuring guide info below.

CHEST: Measure around your chest, holding the measuring tape under your armpit. Please refrain from flexing for a more accurate measurement. You can flex after.

WAIST: Measure around your waist at the narrowest part. Then multiply it by 1.

HIP: Measure around your hips at the widest part. This is where all your hipness lies.

SLEEVE LENGTH: With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist. Do it in front of a mirror. Then flex again. Yep, still got it.
