The did take like 3 weeks to properly break-in, but are excellent now. I can't say how they'd be for hiking but I'd recommend the break-in period before a long hike.

They keep my feet super warm, grip the pedals nicely, and have good traction in the snow when I have to walk my bike in the more technical uphills. Gortex is nice for breathability. The lacing system is a little challenging for tightening the lowers, but I devised a way to get them snugged.

Do not act like they are crampons, these give additional purchase on slick surfaces 5) they look good 6) I recommend them

I’ve hiked several times wearing them in snow, mud, leafy underbrush and the traction has been great! My feet are toasty warm and dry. The break-in period was short.
