Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s not the zipper It’s the design. The Phase 20 is about the lightest 20f full mummy available. Its temperature rating is slightly conservative, in that you will likely be warm at 20f with a light base layer and socks. It also packs down absurdly small, to the point that I worry about damaging something. The down is down defender treated. Additionally, unlike most of the $500+ competition, the Phase is often discounted in the $3’s. The reason is the zipper, or more accurately how the zipper functions. Like several Marmot bags, the zipper makes turn around the shoulder area at the point that the bag is tapering abruptly. If you tension the shoulder area, either because of fit or your body size, the zipper pretty much won’t work. If the area is loose, it works fine, though there is little room near the neck to maneuver your hand. In the pics, you can see both the fit, which accounts for much of the weight savings, and the shoulder area. The other bag is a Moonstone Lucid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag The bag feels great. Has tons of loft and packs down super small and light. I'm 6 foot 3 inches and the long had plenty of room. I read many bad reviews about the zipper. I was very nervous to buy it because of the zipper. The zipper is ok. It can't be used like a normal zipper. It needs to be used carefully. If done correctly, I had no problems. To avoid any snags, it needs to be pulled straight up or straight down while keeping the zipper tight. If you try to pull it up and down at an angle or when the zipper is not tight, it will give you problems. The only thing I didn't love about this bag other than the zipper is the bag does not zip down all the way. The zipper stops about 18 inches from the bottom which isn't ideal when using it as a blanket. Other than that it is an amazing bag for packability and warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing bag This bag is incredible. It packs down in a compression sack to about 1.5L if you really need the space and when you take it back out at the end of the day, it lofts up very well. I find myself using the supplied sack most of the time however which is about 3-3.5L. The zip is small to keep weight down but works fine. Hood design is excellent and the pocket on the inside is handy to keep a few little items in. I am of average athletic build 5'10", 155lb and the fit is very nice. Room for an extra puffy jacket if the weather gets really cold. Durability wise you definitely need to be careful given the lightweight pertex shell, but I haven't had any issues with down leaking so far after a couple weeks of usage which is a great sign. You definitely pay a bit of a premium for this bag but given the weight, size and quality materials it is worth it.

what is its girth?? Is it more than the phase 30? I am a stocky 200 pounder and 5'7" and need real room than the phase 30 provides.

Asked by: George
Thanks for being so patient. Looks like the dimensions of the Phase 20 and Phase 30 are actually the same. Marmot suggested the Trestles 30 in Extra Wide to give you that real room that you need. I included a link below. Hope this helps! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Marmot-Trestles-30-Sleeping-Bag_10331649_10208_10000001_-1_
