The Marmot Men's Scree Pant is a lightweight softshell pant for spring skiing, summer climbing, and shoulder season hikes. The Scree is constructed with Marmot's M3 softshell fabric, the most breathable in their line. The light fabric is durable enough to take on the dirt and rock with reinforcement at the knees and seat. The zippers at the ankles make them easier to get on/off and secure over large boots. The hand pockets and cargo pocket shut with a zip so your chapstick and pocket knife won't bounce out as you monkey up some rock or shimmy up a tree for a better view.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product, but poor stitching I bought these for a climb of Mt. Rainier and to use locally when climbing and hiking in New England. I wore them the entire climb and they were light, wind resistant, and flexible. The design and number of pockets was excellent as well. This product would have 5 stars if not for the stitching in the crotch area coming undone. I can't believe this could happen after a few days of use. My guess is that the stitching issue was probably an aberration as I've never had a problem with any of the other Marmot products I own, so I would still recommend these to potential buyers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best soft shell pant out there I have a black pair that has been shredded from crampons last season. Was looking for a lighter color option. Unfortunately the color is way off from what it shows on the site (canyon) they are more of a dark olive than a lighter tan. My only gripe. I do wish Marmot would single out and focus on the more popular products and provide more color varieties and availability. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel every season to sell more. Another example, the Guides Down, hands down one of the best puffy belay coats around, hundreds of great reviews, the last run? ugly colors and now you can't even find those, I think they have discontinued it (major bummer). These pants should be a staple of their lineup, they are that good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for I was reluctant to purchase these because of the price but I'm glad a I did. I have several pairs of the Marmot Holgate pants which are 4-oz nylon are very similar to the Verde pants. The primary difference between the Colgate and Verde is that the Verde pants have a mesh guessed crotch. This makes the Holgate pants a little better for colder weather and my personal preference between the two models. The Scree pants are everything the Holgate pants should have been. They stretch more to accommodate base layers, they are significantly more wind-proof, they have soft lined pockets instead of mesh pockets and gusseted bottoms with a zipper to fit over boots. It's too early to speak to durability. The Holgate/Verde nylon was prone to getting snagged. The nylon used in the Scree pants seems to be a slightly higher denier fabric which should make them more durable. The only thing I dis-like about these pants is the snap type closure on the waist as opposed to a stud type. I suppose as long as the snap doesn't get debris in it, it should be fairly durable. Last but not least, Marmot nailed the fit. The fit is consistent with everything else Marmot makes. I normally wear 31"x32" and the 30" regular fits me perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants! I’ve had these for a couple of weeks and the fit is really great! These were my first “hiking pants” and they move with the motion of your body very well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great climbing pant!!! these are awesome pants.I used them for some winter climbing in the owens river gorge ca. I was able to high step and get into wide leg stances with no issue. They scraped against the rock as i laybacked for 60 feet and showed no signs of wear. Kept the wind out without over heating me the whole time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great soft shell pants! I bought these specifically for an early-March climb of Mt. Washington, NH and these were perfect. My legs were warm with a mid-weight layer under these pants. Of course, a hard shell was worn on top of them on the last leg up to the summit (full-zip Precips).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable Pants Comfortable, flexible, lightweight, windproof pants. They are warm enough for 20F (I have yet to use them in colder weather). They resist water well enough to stay dry in the snow. The 32x32 leaves enough room for a base layer on a 6' 175lb person, but I have yet too need one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Pair of Pants! It has been almost two years since I first bought these pants for a Wilderness EMT class in the Tetons. When I first bought them, they felt one size too small but after wearing them in and washing them, they fit perfectly. Once I started at a city EMS agency, I switched off between these and my given duty pants. These were way more comfortable than the duty pants! The Scree pants hold my wallet, some gloves and my phone well on calls. I also love that I can adjust the leg width from straight to boot-cut! After travelling four different continents in these pants, I honestly could never ask for a better article of travel clothing. It keeps the necessities close, keeps you warm in the cold, cool in the heat, and looking great while doing so.

I’m confused about your size chart on the Marmot pants: I see the XS, S, etc size info, but down below, there is an “athletic”, “regular”, etc info section. How do you put that info into the sizing selection to choose these pants? 34 waist,30 inseam=size?

Asked by: Dale
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I can see you're from Texas.....good for you! So, The fit guide is just there as an addendum to the sizing. The waist and inseam will still be the numbers listed, and the fit guide will let you know what you can expect from that fit. So, if you wear a 34x30, it will still be those measurements, and the fit will be regular: Relaxed at waist. Slight taper at knees. Straight cuff opening. Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.

Are these pants more slim fit? I have always worn slim hit jeans cause straight doesnt fit my that well

Asked by: Southdakotan
Hiya Southdakotan, thanks for your question! This pant has a regular fit, not really a slim fit. (Watch the video on the product page to see how it fits.) I would check out the Arcteryx Men's Palisade Pant, Rab Men's Fulcrum Pant or Black Diamond Men's Stretch Font Pant instead. Here is a link to each product page: Arcteryx Men's Palisade Pant Rab Men's Fulcrum Pant Black Diamond Men's Stretch Font Pant Hope this helps!

How long is the inseam on the Long pants? I'm 32" x 38" and have trouble finding pants that are long enough.

Asked by: Andu
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Did you know that the word 'scree' comes from the old Norse word 'skritha' meaning landslide? Now that's what I want to put around my legs! So, I double checked that an got all the info: Short inseam is 30, regular is 32, long is 34. Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.
