The Marmot Men's PreCip Pant waterproof pant for hiking through rainy trails. The PreCip uses NanoPro technology, a waterproof/breathable coating to keep the rain off your legs while still remaining comfortable. None of that garbage bag feeling on the inside. Side zips at the ankles make quick work of pulling them on in a sudden downpour. The zippered hand pockets and one zippered back pocket provide easy access to your pocket knife or a light snack without having to dig into your hike pants underneath. The elastic waist is comfortable and a draw cord ensures they won't fall off midway down the trail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! The fabric is nice, perfect weight for the Florida Keys rain storms. I don’t often need rain gear but these will come in handy when it does.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Correct inseam I have not worn the pants in the rain but I tried them on and the 30" seam ( 30") are pretty close. Pants feel good. Material and construction seem of good quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unsatisfied I received these pants as a Christmas gift. The first time I attempted to use them on a bike ride in the rain left the back of the pants underneath completely soaked! I gave them another try a few weeks later with the same result. There are not any holes visible, just seems water comes right through the material.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fit, performance, and value I was looking to replace an old pair of rain pants to fit over jeans or technical pants and these hit the mark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Splash Pants Used them on a zodiac boat tour in Antarctica. Zip legs at bottom with button closure and elastc ties to cinch tight around boots. Elastic waist with draw string ties. Bought two pairs - one for rainy football games, and one for the holiday property.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very light and just right fit for bicycle touring I bought these pants to replace the much heavier 3-layer Gore-Tex pants for my cross country bicycle tour. I already own the PreCip jacket and it has proven itself worthy during the first 2500 miles, so the pants are a no brainer. Feather light and a perfect fit. Size Large fits my 6’ 200 lbs body. The PreCip membrane is a good enough trade off between breathability and waterproofing. Bicycling is a sweaty activity and nothing out there breathes enough to keep me dry underneath the Gore-Tex, but at least I’m warm in the rain. Just need to be sure to get out of the wet clothes asap when I get to camp.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Misleading size chart I bought these pants after a lot of research in stores and online. The problem is that it seems like almost nobody caries in the stores short sizes, and since I need a 30" inseam with a 32-33" waist, and I couldn't find anywhere. My excitement rapidly dropped, after I finally got possession of a pair of Medium short, according with the chart, and tried them on. They were way too small all around, and especially on the thighs, and almost clown looking. I immediately returned them in the store, and since they couldn't find a Large short to try and exchange, I just gave up on them. The material looked nice and quality made, but cannot comment on advertised properties and/or durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pants! Light weight, compressible, and roll up small. Have been using them on a daily basis when hiking as my outer layer to cut down the chill on windy days.

I assume M Tall version is about 34" inseam?  What is the exact weight of that size?  Also these are half zip not a full zip pant ? Lastly is there any coating like DWR that will fade with time or they are permanently water proof?

Asked by: ap 2
Hey there again! Beginning to think you might need to be introduced to our chat system so you can get all your questions answered in one place :) As for these pants, I cannot currently weigh them as they aren't in our warehouse at this time. I chatted with a Marmot rep and he said 8.9 ounces, but, that seems to be the pat answer for ALL the sizes right now. I can definitely follow up once they arrive here! These are ankle zip - not even fully half zip. These are waterproof, but you could easily spray some DWR to help the water bead off. I typically treat my waterproof gear periodically to help extend their life.

I need the 42 inch waist but am short. Can the pants be shortened without losing the zippers at the bottom?

Asked by: Dony
Hey Dony! The short answer: I cannot suggest you do that simply because you negate any and all warranties that Marmot provides. The long answer: where there is a will, there is a way. Hmm, so that was shorter than the short answer.

Hi, What is the best size with the Marmot Men's PreCip Pant for a 34w 31.6 inseam. I would to make sure I select the correct size as there seems to be a question with the sizing chart for these pants from a previous purchaser. Thank you

Asked by: JRod
Hiya JRod, thanks for your question! Based on your description, I recommend size large. If that size doesn't work for you, feel free to reach out to us and we can help with an exchange or return. Hope this helps!
