Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the side zips and light weight They look and feel great. Have not had time to put them though their paces, but my husband and I both have similar Marmot pants that are 20 years old. That have provided great service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I needed at a great price It did NOT disappoint : The side-zips worked perfectly so I didn’t have to take my boots off to stay dry. The pants are also super lightweight and fit great for me (5’9” 160 #).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 pairs - BOTH de-laminated. Otherwise a good pant I really wanted to like these pants. They have great potential, but somehow Marmot dropped the ball on this one, with regards to quality. I am 6' tall and approx. 175 lbs. I typically wear a 33" waist. I purchased these pants to use for snowshoeing in the winter, and for hiking in the warmer months. I purchased the medium and the large. The medium fit just a tad smaller than I like, but would be fine for summer use over lightweight pants or shorts. The waist was just right. The large fit better for winter use over a layered pant system, but the waist was just a bit too loose, and there is not enough adjustment to tighten them to where they would not fall down. Pros: Lightweight Water-proof Pockets Full zips work good Cons: Limited adjustment in waist Elastic around ankle cuff seems a bit weak Both pairs started to de-laminate in the crotch after only ONE hike. Hence my 2-star rating. Returned because of this. If these pants did not de-laminate, I would give them a 3 or 4 star rating. Probably 3 stars, considering the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pockets! I looked at(and returned) several different brands of rain pants before choosing this pair. They have front and rear pockets which are hard to find. I am 6' tall and had to return the 'tall' version for being a couple inches too long -this was over summer hiking boots with a 1-1,5" heel. There are only two things I wish they had done, and these would be perfect: a string or Velcro waist-tie (elastic always dies) and an ability to unzip the pants at the ankle, so they are completely open, all the way down. It's possible that they do unzip/open at the ankle, but I haven't managed it, and the end of the zipper makes me think you can't. There is a snap at the ankle, btw, so you can adjust for more/less volume. I wore these once walking in moderate rain at 50 degrees for several hours. No leakage and kept me warm. If you get too warm, I imagine you could lower the zips along the legs for ventilation. For packing, they are moderately bulky. They seem to be made of the same material as the Msrmot precious rain jacket. For sizing: if these are going over pants you may want to go one size up if you like more leg movement. I wear mine over jeans and thicker work pants and while my regular size fit, they felt a bit tighter than I like for hiking/working. If you're wearing them over long-johns or something slim then your regular size should be fine. BTW, if I recall correctly, there are 3 pockets- 2 in front and one in the rear (sorry, they're in my camper now and I'm not going out to get them!). I think the rear has a snap and the front ones have zippers? The front pockets weren't super deep, but functional. Would hold at least an iPhone 5, or a small wallet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best rain pants for tall men These rain pants have great features. My husband loves the flexibility of the full zip, opening from bottom and top, as well as the pockets. I kept my rating to 4 stars instead of 5 because, with a 36 inch inseam, my husband's jeans still stick out a full 2 inches past the bottom hem. I know with a 32 inch waist, he is a sizing outlier and finding pants that fit is always challenging, but having 3 inseam options (32, 34, 36 inch) would take these excellent pants over the top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kept me dry! Just used these pants for the first time hiking in the rain. Excellent st keeping me dry on a cold, rainy day. With the full zip, the pants went on and off easily. They also dried very quickly after the hike. I highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pant! Bought these for a June backpacking trip to Alaska. Wore them just about every day for 2 weeks, during which it rained almost every day. They kept me perfectly dry the entire time. I would definitely buy again. Love that they have full zip - can put on or off without having to take your boots off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Bought these as an outer shell for December trip to Iceland. Temperature was consistently 0 Cel and these pants did the track as an outershell for water proofing. Spent up to 4 straight hours hours in strong winds and sitting in the snow, no wetness to complain of. The pants also did a good job as a windbreaker. Obviously for winter use, you need mid layers to stay warm, but they're great for a waterproof wind barrier. The full zip feature is fantastic, you can put these pants on/off without taking your boots off! The one negative to the pants is the waistband has no tightening feature, so if your waist doesn't perfectly fit these pants, you'll need your own DIY method to keep the pants from falling down. The waistband does have velcro fasteners on both sides (at the tops of the zippers), which I fasteneded directly to the belt loops of the pants I wore underneath, which worked fine.

What's the inseam measurement of the small "short"?

Asked by: Betsy
Hiya Betsy, thanks for your question! The short inseam is 30 inches. Hope this helps!

hello what is an actual inseam size for a M long version?  Also what is the weight for that model?  Lastly does the fabric have any stretch in it such as in 4 way soft shell pants for example ?

Asked by: ap 2
Hey there! I measured a 34" inseam on these and they weighed in at 12 ounces. As for stretch - these have absolutely NO stretch. Hope that helps.

Do they come with a drawstring (in addition to the elastic waistband) or not? Also, what would be my best fit: I am 173 lbs, 5 ft 11 in, 33-in waist, 32-long inseam.

Asked by: hawkman52
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! The Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants do not have a drawstring, only an elastic waistband. If you visit the product's page on our site, under the available sizes you'll see the Marmot Size Guide. Based on your measurements, you're at the higher end of a size Medium. You might consider a size Large if you plan on layering underneath.

Let me clarify the question.  I want to know if there is a zipper at the bottom and also up by the waist.

Asked by: hettwerak
Hey there, This pant zips all the way up on the side, from the bottom of the pant up to the waist in one continuous zipping/unzipping. I hope this helps.
