The Marmot Men's KT Component Jacket is a ski jacket that performs just as well on the slopes as it does in everyday life. The Component series comes in twos, two jackets, three ways to wear. The outer shell is a 2L, 100% polyester oxford with Marmot® MemBrain® to provide you with 100% waterproof protection. The snow and wind can get nasty out there, so you need a barrier against it at every turn on the slopes and around every corner on the streets of town. Hand pockets for glove liners and warming your hands and chest pockets with water resistant zippers for phone or maybe a snack, with a powder skirt on the inside to protect your lower back when carving (or falling) through deep powder. The PitZips open to dump extra heat when you're burning up from all the sweat and the hood is removable in case you're feeling lucky. Last but not least is the warmth behind the shell, the Thermal R liner jacket. It is packed with synthetic insulation to keep you warm during the coldest of days, and can even be worn alone on mild, dry days. Together they're a cold winter weather deterrent and separate they've got the fall and spring weather oddities covered.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Marmot Thermal R

Marmot Thermal R
Marmot Thermal R is an ultra-warm synthetic insulation for cold weather activities. Comprised of multi-channel and hollow fibers, it maximizes warmth while minimizing internal condensation and moisture. The hollow fibers are lofty and light for an excellent warmth to weight ratio.

Marmot MemBrain

Marmot MemBrain
Marmot MemBrain fabrics utilize a polyurethane laminate that perfectly balances performance for anything nature can throw at you. Waterproof, breathable and durable, the external protection coupled with minimal internal condensation adds up to pure comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific mountain jacket. Great jacket. Skiing at Big Sky in 8 degrees and it was toasty warm! Like the shell/liner jacket function a lot. Marmot delivers again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing + Fit I typically wear a medium in Marmot outdoor jackets. I ordered this jacket and it was too large, so I had to return it. It seemed exactly like a jacket that I would wear, unfortunately it was too big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm Bought a month ago. Definitely warmer than my previous 3 in 1 jacket. I wouldn’t want it any warmer. Materials and quality look and feel great. Good purchase for me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Value Jacket I wore this jacket in 30-40 degree weather in Breckenridge. It kept me very warm with just a tshirt under the jacket while skiing. Quality built jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket Exactly what I was looking for. A shell with a removable liner. Haven’t taken her skiing yet but she seems to repel water well in the rain, and I use the liner itself as a jacket around town and it’s extremely warm. 6’5, 220, XL is just a tad spacious, but perfect for layering. I like it a lot. Only issue is the Liner seems to get dirty pretty quickly...maybe I’m just a dirty guy?!

Is this jacket also suitable for hiking and other activities, or would you only recommend it on ski slopes? I'm looking for a light outer shell for summer rain protection when hiking and kayaking, and winter warmth in town and country, on foot and bike.

Asked by: hikerpaddler
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us. I wrote a poem, just for your answer!!! This jacket is great on hills of snow, or when the sky in summer does flow. Hiking and kayaking, this coat is amaze. And it'll keep you warm in those cold winter days! In country or town, on foot or by bike you'll be warm, warm, warm! This jacket I like!!!! Hope this helped you out.

I'm buying either the sky pilot or the k2 component for my son. Which is warmer? Do you recommend 1 over the other?

Asked by: Lynn
When looking at these two jackets, the sky pilot is warmer due to it's added weight. They both use a similar synthetic insulation, but the sky pilot is just a bit warmer than the KT Component. I would recommend the Sky Pilot because I believe it is the better bang for your buck, offering more warmth overall.
