Marmot Down Defender

Marmot Down Defender
Marmot Down Defender helps prevent down from clumping when exposed to water or moisture. This allows it to keep its loft, which equates to greater insulation. Nothing will stop the specially treated, highly water-resistant down from trapping warm air next to your body.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one is warm! I've been buying then sending back rain-resistant down jackets from all the major makers for about 2 months now. This is the first one that is truly very warm. I'm a photographer, so I need a jacket that keeps me warm when I'm waiting and working, and not just when I'm hiking. Great fit. And I love the old-school look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super warm and kept me dry The wife and I went to NYC in December, where the temperatures during our trip ranged between 20-45F. I tend to run cold and after doing some research, found the Marmot Guides to be listed as one of the warmest coats in its category. The coat did not disappoint. I did need to layer in temps below about 36-38F. It snowed while we were there, and drizzled some as well and the coat stayed dry. I am 6'0" and 225 lbs and the XXL was a good fit for me. Highly recommended by this southern California guy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice everyday coat I have had Marmot products for years. Expedition parkas and down bags. Never a problem. I bought this coat as I needed something for our cols winter days in Upstate New York. This coat fits the bill. Lightweight and comfortable, but very warm. Not too bad in the wind, either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice down coat for the $ Dual zipper for climbing harness(belaying, tie-in, etc--). Nice multiple pockets. Compressible for climbing pack(although not super small). I'd buy again...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For colder days Bought this looking for a mid layer to wear below my Marmot shell that would be warmer than the light weight down jackets I have. Very pleased with the purchase, added warmth without excessive bulkiness that can be comfortably worn under a shell. Fit is true to form, and the craftsmanship is solid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice jacket! I bought this jacket for my 14 year old son. He loves the hand warmer pockets, since he doesn’t like to wear gloves. The jacket is as “puffy” as I thought it would be- but my son says it’s warm.

just ordered a replacement Marmot Stockholm. Then saw this. Is this coat as warm as the Stockholm? Also, does it size similar. I normally where xl but had to get xxl in Stockholm. If this is as warm, might consider changing my order. Thanks

Asked by: steve
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Did you know that the Stockholm was named after the city Stockholm? And the Guides jacket is named....after a group of guides. I guess. Idk. So, I pulled up this info and I'm seeing that the difference in warmth should be negligible. Both the Stockholm and the Guides have a 700 fill power down with down defender, so neither one will be better! And, for the sizing, both of these are a regular fit, so that will be the same. Hope this helps you out! Hugsies!!
