Product Description Item No.   10221512

The Marmot Men's Bastione Component Jacket is a 3-in-1 jacket for all-season outdoor protection. The outer shell is constructed of two layers, using Marmot's MemBrain 10 fabric to provide 100% waterproof, breathable protection when the rain or snow unleashes upon you and your adventure. Equipped with a full length zipper and storm flap to prevent leaks, you can tuck into the soft DriClime lined collar against the wind when it's zipped to the chin. The dual hand pockets zip gloves safely inside and a zippered chest pocket secures an mp3 player, or a snack. The removable hood keeps your hair rated at an 8, or at least keeps it dry when pulled up. The hair rating may or may not be true. When the coldest of days roll in, zip the Thermal R liner jacket into the shell for insulated warmth. The synthetic insulation will toast you to the core. Wear the Thermal R separately as spring approaches, out on the town or hitting the slopes on a bright day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Jack of all Trades I still can't figure out what the intended use of this jacket is, it's kind of a jack of all trades. I bought it for general winter wear in the pacific northwest, but it is just way too hot for that. Maybe if you use just the liner or just the shell it would work, but together it's too much. I have no idea why some reviewers are saying it isn't warm enough. It's warm. I've taken it snowboarding and been comfortable in the chair in 10F and windy conditions, but no powder skirt is a downer for that use. I've taken it (shell only) up to the summit of Mt St Helens (with another mid layer) in 15F and 30 mph wind conditions and it is totally wind proof and warm. Biggest down side is overall weight and bulk. I like the shell (which is totally bomber) better than the liner. In fact, I love the shell. Pit zips help a lot if you need to hike in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marmot Has a Winner My son was in need of a good general duty winter coat that can keep him dry. Out climate has lots of rain and some sleet in the winter. Snow is rare, but it can get cold. Looking thru Moosejaws' site led me to this Marmot jacket. I have had several Marmot items in the past and they are well styled and bombproof. The slightly longer length and having a removable inner liner that can also be a light jacket both appealed to me. Indeed they hit a home run. He was very happy, the construction is bombproof, and the sizing is true to the web site guide. We use our jackets very hard with lots of scrambling thru the woods and rocks, and this thing keeps him dry and styling. I would add that the customer service I received during a small snafu during the order process was outstanding with a very pleasant rep on the other end of the phone whom I could understand clearly. This was an 11th hour Christmas 2016 gift and the two day shipping was just that for a very reasonable price. Moosejaw and Marmot, a great combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT COAT. I live in Michigan and needed a warm coat for windy, cold winter days. This coat is lightweight but keeps the cold and wind at bay! I definitely recommend the Bastione Component Jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 3-in-one jacket Good fit without being too full or tight. The outer shell is soft but looks to be abrasion resistant and will last. Zip out liner provides enough insulation to keep you warm in even low activities. Pit zips allow you to vent if you get to worm . I would rather have a self storing hood but you can fold it up to keep it out of the way. Good water proof exterior and hasn't let me down yet. There is no powder skirt but there is a cinch cord. I like the adjustable sleeve opening which makes it easier to take on and off, especially with a watch on. The chest pocket is big enough to easily hold a plus size smart phone. Overall a great jacket that won't disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and warm! I bought this jacket to supplement an older Marmot coat that's so warm i can only wear it in weather below 20 degrees or i get sweaty. This coat is the perfect weight and so far i've had it on in 30 degree weather and have had to unzip it a couple times to get a little cool air inside on my core. The coat has a slightly rougher outer shell but i presume that's for backcountry skiing and such where you'd want durable protection from brush and branches. Overall, i'm completely satisfied with this jacket. You won't be disappointed....especially if you catch a sale and get it for less than $300!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough to categorize.... I've had this jacket for approximately one year. The shell, by itself, is a bit large. The liner, by itself, a bit small. Together they fit well. The shell is very waterproof, and more breathable than the liner. The under-arm vents contribute to this. The removable hood is a plus, as are the reversible zipper and velcro fasteners. The liner looks terrific on its own, I wear it more often than the shell. As far as warmth rating, this jacket works well for moderate activity. The shell is windproof, which helps, and is great if you're very active. Don't expect the liner to be as warm as a similar down-filled coat; it works best if you're somewhat active, e.g. walking at a moderate pace.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design I've had this jacket for 2 months. I thought it was a solid jacket, until the zipper to the side pocket got caught with my cell phone trapped inside. I've been wrestling with the zipper to get my phone out for 2 days! Stay away from this jacket, there appears to be too much material within the pocket that allowed for the zipper to get caught. One day I hope to get my phone out.
