Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing quality I love the quality of these mitts. Both the liners and the insulated shells are top shelf! I was toast warm on Mt. Washington at -20F

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bomber Mitts Exactly the glove I was looking for when the mercury drops! The ability to wear just the shell, just the down liner, wear them together, or you can even wear the shell over your technical gloves if you don't need to go atomic on your hands. I was impressed by the dexterity this glove affords you for how warm it is. A must for any mountaineering adventure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Verstatile, warm, but short-lived I purchased these gloves in late 2012, and have used them during winter hiking in the White Mountains of NH ever since. More often than not, I just use the red GTX outer shell over a pair of stretch all-weather gloves; this combination is perfect when ascending, to temperatures down to the teens. When it is in the single digits, or during cold descents, I'll use the down mitts underneath. Using them like this, they were perfect for a wide range of conditions. Sadly, for expensive gloves, they are simply not robust enough. One of the straps used to tighten around the cuff tore during normal use after two years, and Marmot repaired it under warranty (took about 5 weeks, which is within their quoted time frame.) However, later that winter the gloves began leaking. Both thumbs have small wear through near the tip (one is now covered with tape as you can see in the photo.) This is a high usage area, but the leather palms don't wrap around far enough to protect it. For use in actual mountain hiking, during which hands are often needed to provide support on rocks and trees, the design is simply not good enough. Marmot makes it very clear on the website that wear through and leakage are considered "normal wear and tear" and are not covered under warranty. I got four full years of use from these gloves, but frankly I don't think that is good enough for a glove in this price range. I won't buy them again. They would be five star gloves if they lasted longer, I'll still give them three because they were great while they lasted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm! Great features and quality materials justify the high price tag of these mitts! A completely waterproof outer shell with a thin layer of synthetic insulation and warm down filled inner mitts keep my hands warm in the coldest temperatures. I am so happy with my purchase, or rather investment. I will have these for many years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frostbite sufferer. Living in the ski country, south of Buffalo NY (enough said about cold conditions) and suffering from the after effects of both frost bite and frost nip on both hands, these gloves are a dream come true. They won't be seeing altitudes rated for this glove anytime soon, but it's all about the warmth and protection they provide. Can't put a cost on NOT having the noburn of frostbite come back whenever it gets cold outside!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deliciously Warm It has gotten cold in MA and I have had the opportunity to fully test my new mittens. I hike/snowshoe/downhill ski and have had increasing difficulty in keeping my fingers warm UNTIL NOW. Terrific product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protect your digits! I picked up two pair of these for my wife and myself. We'll be headed up over 22,000ft and expedition weight mitts were recomended for summit. The gloves came and are well constructed. Excited to put them through their paces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing Help For Others I measured around my knuckles with an open hand 8.5in (like the company suggests) this would be a medium with their chart. The widest part of my hand (around the base of the thumb) 9.75in that would be their large. I decided to go with an extra large 10-10.5in. When i received them they fit snug on my hands due to the insulation. If you are going to buy these gloves keep this in mind. Make a fist, measure around the four fingers and the knuckles and you will have the size that will just fit. For me that measures 10.5in. I hope this helps.
