Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Technical Shell I really like this shell. Had it out for the first time in steady, light snowfall. The snow that landed and melted beaded excellently and there was no wetting of the fabric. Breathed well the entire time. The collar is a little high and may put some people off, but the hood was comfortable and easy to adjust. Is big enough for a helmet to fit underneath but was not floppy without one. I'm 6'2", 180lbs and got the Large and fit is nice. The one spot that seems like it might be too small is in the arms, baggy layers in that area would not fit well I don't think. But if your layers are trim fitting as well, it shouldn't be an issue. Arms are plenty long and torso length is a little shorter than I'd prefer, but sufficient. Quality of material and assembly seems excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality! I bought this jacket for my boyfriend who was looking for a ski shell. The jacket is pretty lightweight and waterproof. It is pretty slim fitting in the arms and hip area so it’s not great for putting a lot of layers underneath. I think it would be best as more of a windbreaker then a ski jacket because of that reason. I am giving it a 5 star rating because of the excellent quality and the flattering design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking jacket I got this jacket with the idea of using it as a ski jacket shell. It’s kind of tight/thin, bad for layering. Good stretchy water/windproof material and cool looking jacket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 20,000mm rating? Nope. Very tight fit which does not allow layering underneath. No chance this is as waterproof as it claims. I wear a medium or large U.S. their large was tight enough in the shoulder that it would have ripped. Useful if you go from you car to Starbucks in the rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light weather jacket This is the perfect jacket for fall and spring hikes in the Sierra Nevadas. Packs very well. Keeps the wind and light rain off you. It's also great for wearing around town. I've received many compliments.

What is the difference of the Kento HS to just the regular Kento ?  What does the "HS" mean ?

Asked by: Runhike Dan
Hiya Sherpa Dan, thanks for your question! The Kento HS version (Hard Shell) is designed for protection from the elements. It is meant to wear over other layers. The regular Kento, has a fleece lining so it be warmer. Both offer protection but the Kento HS is made with more techie materials and is less likely to get caught on a branch or rip. Hope this helps!
