Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good first rope I bought this as my first rope - something to bring to the crag in New England, mostly. Being a rope, it was ready to use right out of the box. It has taken abuse fairly well (lowering with some rope drag, rappelling off dirty ledges) and it's not too tough on my hands while belaying or rappelling. If I could do it all over, I'd still buy this rope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unbeatable choice for first rope Great rope for beginners or anyone looking to push limits and going to have some good falls. This rope can take alot of them. This is not my only 9.8 rope that I have, I also have a Edelrid Boa Eco 9.8. I bought this one for one of my climbing spots only has 40ft walls and a 60m was overkill. I bought a 40m of this rope. This rope has much much less static stretch it seems, when resting on a wall it seems to be about half of my other rope. Rope feels great in hand and flexible out of the package. Only down fall is they dont make the dry treated version of this rope in 40m or less so was forced to not have a dry-rope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adventures that couldn’t have been possible. I recently purchased climbing rope and I honestly have never bought rope before but I read several reviews on the brand I bought and I was very confident buying it from Moosejaw! I love having the rope by my side, i have been able to climb certain altitudes that I wasn’t able to reach before when I didn’t have rope. I have been giving an opportunity to teach young campers how to tie knots and this rope has been so tough and strong and has lived up to its strength! And plus it is a very pretty rope, the colors pop and people always ask where I got it so I point them to Moosejaw! Thank you Moosejaw for a great product and I will definitely continue to purchase from y’all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feeling and looking rope We've only had a chance to get this rope out once but it was great. Looks and feels great and straight out of the coil the kinks weren't so bad.

is this rope a dry rope or a non-dry rope?

Asked by: jeromedrean
Great question! The 9.8mm Eternity Classic Rope is a non-dry rope. Mammut actually makes ropes of three different levels of dryness; classic, protect and dry. The dry ropes are, surprise surprise, the least water absorbent, the protect ropes have a protective sheath for abrasions but are still fairly absorbent. I'll throw in a link to both of these ropes so you can check em out, hope this helps! is this a static rope? would it be good for sport/trad climbing?

Asked by: steve111
Hey Steve! This rope isn't a static rope - it has Dynamic Elongation of 31% so it is definitely acceptable for traditional and sport climbing. Hope that helps!
