Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient design, solid build and adjustability I bought these for two purposes - 1) their intended purpose as trekking poles, 2) packable/travel ski poles. I haven't had a chance to test them as s ski pole, but they work very well for trekking and their folding design makes them very easy to take anywhere. When put together, they are reasonably light and impressively solid. The variable length feature is much appreciated for transitioning from ascending to descending and vice versa. The adjustment is solid and does not slip. They also look nice, come with baskets that should work well in powdery snow, and a carrying case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Poles Haven’t had these poles too long, but recently put them to use during a week long winter vacation. I originally bought them for hiking/backpacking, but on this trip I thought I’d try them out on downhill skiing runs and cross country. In both sports, they performed well. At 6’/210lbs, they do flex a bit if I put a lot of weight on a single pole (ie saving myself from falling in a mogul field ), but that’s about it. They adjust quickly, and the cold had no negative affect on the function/construction of the poles. Terrain ranged from blues to DD and temps from -10/-35. IMO, the Trigger grip is just plain genius. I’m the type to always use my straps, but it’s always a PIA to take your hands in/out, especially with gloves. It’s my first time using this tech. and I love it. Wish I’d known about this years ago. For me it’ll be mandatory on every new pole in the future. I was a little concerned about the small loop which connects the pole to the strap, but after about 6-8K vertical feet of skiing and @35-40 miles of XC and lots of clicking in/out, it still looks brand new. I like the idea of the strap vs. dedicated glove with the same loop interface, because with the strap I can use whatever glove suits the situation best. One “Learning Curve” note: A ski instructor noticed my poles and I let him take a look. As he collapsed my poles and reassembled them, he had his hand where the two joints come together. When he pulled to lock the pole, he really pinched his skin. He was bleeding quite a bit as he walked away.
