The La Sportiva Spantik Boot is a double boot for high peaks and cold mountaineering conditions. Where one boot is good, two better. You don't wear just one layer on your body, so why would you treat your feet with anything less? Of course there is certainly a time and place for other options, but the inner and outer boot combination offered by the Spantik is top-notch when it comes to warmth. Speed lacing on both helps decrease the time it takes to pile on the gear, plus the outer boot is step-in crampon compatible. Gotta love those heel and toe welts. The rubber rand protects against the harsh terrain and a Vibram® Montagna outsole is durable and tough. Time to start checking those peaks off your list.

FEATURES of the La Sportiva Spantik Boot

  • Toasty inner boot features micro-perforated thermo-formable PE/water-repellant lorica with antiacqua external coating and a minimal outsole plate on the bottom for durability
  • A warmer alternative to the baruntse, it is step-in crampon compatible, and a proven performer for north faces, winter alpinism and long periods at altitude
  • Innovative fast lacing system for inner and outer boots allows one- handed, glove closure, even in the most heinous conditions
  • Perfect for 6-7000 meter peaks or anywhere that you need a toasty warm performance fit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome boots! very comfortable boots, the external lacing system is perfect, you don't have to take off your gloves on those cold days, just a good tug on a single lace and you are done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, Toasty, and not so heavy I bought this boots with the warm in mind because i am skinny so usually i have cold hands and feet. Knowing these boots would keep me toasty up to 7000 metters. i used by now twice and, the only thing i can say is BOY, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Really, i used my boots in Cotopaxi (5900m), with a heavy blizzard and -15°C. and no cold at all. again i used in another mountain where i was standing most of the day in glacier with no activity for quite a fair time because i was attending a high mountain training and only was using a medium weight socks and i have not suffered from blisters, or cold feet, or anything at all. When i got to do some ice climbing, these boots stood perfectly, they are rigid but comfy, maybe a bit bulky but i dont care at all as far as i can wear my gaiters too. Finally, compared to the plastic rigid boots, or some leather semirigid, this are kind of lightweight. By the way, when buying La Sportiva footwear, check the EU size (i got the EU44.5 because the usual US10 size for me in this case were too small), because the US size runs small. For me, these are the perfect mountaineering boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality high altitude boot After extensive research purchased these for Elbrus. Plan to also take them to Aconcagua and Denali. Have worn them 3 times in lower altitudes, a little heavy, but warm and durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bomber boots that will keep your toes in tact. La Sportiva scores again with the Spantik! This is one bad ass boot! I needed a mountaineering boot that would also fit the bill for splitboarding back country adventures. These boots are perfect wether they are strapped to crampons or splitboard bindings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boot I've used I have not used that many boots, but these boots are far and away the best I've tried. I am prone to shin bang, and to cold feet, and to blisters - I am a lot of fun. But these boots eliminated pretty much all issues I've had with boots in the past. I have had no shin bang when climbing in these boots. They have kept my feet warm and dry, with only a little foot sweat to get in the way. I have not had any kind of blistering while wearing these boots. The one-handed tying laces are super convenient. They come with optional liners so that you can get a good, almost custom fit.,,,,I took these boots to Mt. Rainier in the early season, and while they may have been overkill, I was glad to have them. I went with a couple guides who were wearing them also, and both swore by them. Those guys know boots, and these appear to be the new standard. ,,,,They are expensive, but I got them because bad boots can ruin a trip and leave you in a bad way. These boots leave you in a good way.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Bang for your Buck!! My brother & I used these boots while climbing Mt Rainier. I also used them on several really icey hikes in Arizona mountains. They surpassed my expectations with traction. ,,,,The lace-up system on the inner boot never loosened & the outer system, shoot, you can't beat how easy it is. I could work it with gloves on & when you're 12,000 ft up, pelted by 40+ winds & freakin COLD out the last thing you want to do is remove gloves to work a pair of boots! ,,,,Comfort wise, they were real good. Spent six days on Mt Rainier in them, no issues... Even on Rainier in the dead of winter on summit day they keep your feet warm so use summer socks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Cheap, But Great Quality! These shoes have lots of traction, and are great with climbing mountains and hiking steep slopes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boot if they fit your foot These are nice boots, and the lacing system is pretty awesome. Only thing is that you need to be sure that it fits your foot well. I tried these for awhile, but I ended up using old Koflach Arctis Expeds on my last expedition because I was nervous that these were not comfortable enough, but other people in my group had these and loved them.

Any chance you will be getting a size 38 of this boot in?

Asked by: Cynthia
Hiya Cynthia, thanks for your question! We are expecting to get more of those in, but we are not sure when that will be. As soon as they are back in stock in our warehouse or made available to special order they will be posted on our website. Your best bet would be to check back periodically. Sorry I don't have more info!

• La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and ADD ONE HALF SIZE.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
