Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stone Cold Classic What is there to say about the TX line that hasn't been said already? If the last fits your foot they're a game-changer. The TX3 is a very well-balanced all-mountain all-rounder -- the synthetic upper dries well, breathes well, and is durable enough to handle all but the most abusive conditions. The shoe is light (for a bomber approach shoe) and nimble. It's not the best edger out there, but man can these things smear. You just float across slabs and talus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tx4, Tx3 or Tx2 I love my Tx3s. I also own a pair of 2s and 4s so I thought I would give my thoughts on the differences. The Tx2s are the lightest and narrowest of the 3 with the 3s and 4s being of similar fit. Most tx2 owners size up from their normal shoe size whereas the 3s and 4s are more true to size. I’d take the 2s for an easy approach on a hot day and the 4s when a more rugged shoe is needed. The 3s fall in a sweet spot between the 2 being a bit heavier and sturdier than the 2s but more breathable than the 4s. If I had to pick one pair the 3s would win without a doubt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3rd Pair 3rd pair of TX3s for me, have also used the TX4 for fancier affairs. They fit my feet like a dream, are built solid, and the rubber seems to last forever. Small weakness is the lacing system which breaks down 18 months in after daily use long before the rest of the shoe. But love is love, so I keep buying them. They’re just too comfy in a world of shoes more reminiscent of torture devices than shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Please introduce new color(s) Great shoes but would really appreciate a different colorway. The reason the TX4 has a bigger following is because it’s a more neutral color. Would love something a bit more subtle than this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cracking pair of approach shoes These approach shoes have amazing out the box comfort. No issues of hot spots or blisters (my previous shoes, different brand, gave me problems). Amazing grip on rocks, each step on slabs is filled with confidence. The first outing was up to a crag, which has a trail walking, with snow, mud and water conditions, but the shoes performed amazingly and when they reached the rock, it was a different level. I would not buy these for just measure or dog walking, as its a waste, my friends have them and say the sole wears quickly with that type of walking. Yet the softer sole is ideal for the rock, so if you are going to use them for approach/crag shoes, they are a great option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Approach /Hiking shoe! Bought my first pair without being able to even try them on and they were comfortable from day one. One side note: I do add an arch support to every shoe I wear and these were no different. too flat for my high arch. Once I got over the bright orange which tones down after a couple outings :) the breathable fabric was perfect for the warm weather here in AZ. They quickly became my favorite hiking shoes and I even ordered a second pair to make sure I could have a backup in case they changed the design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better For Wider Feet Than The TX2 I've had a pair of Evolv climbing shoes, for years (10-15?). They are great for the gym, but kind of a pain for outdoor climbing (constantly having to swap shoes). I found out about approach shoes and that they are great for hiking to the climb and for moderate grades (5.8/5.9). That sounded like it would fit the bill, perfectly, for me. Unfortunately, there aren't any places around me that sell approach shoes. I was relegated to online reviews and retailers with generous return policies (IE...MooseJaw). Everyone had La Sportivas on sale, for a couple weeks, so I picked up a pair of TX3s for 25% off. The TX line is considered some of the best, for approach shoes, so I figured they would be a safe bet. I do the bulk of my climbing during the summer, so I was looking for the breathability of a mesh shoe. I have no idea how well they will hold up, except that hardcore climbers seem to wear them out in one season. Given that I'm nowhere near hardcore, maybe they will last me a couple years (or more). My Evolv climbing shoes (no idea what model they are or if they are even comparable to something current - they are a lace-up shoe, though, and not aggressive) are a size 11. The width is really nice (tight, but not painful or even uncomfortable), but they are a bit short (my big toe does push into the front). They aren't something that I would want to be in for hours, straight. I usually wear a 10.5 street shoe. I have a pair of Vibram FiveFingers in an EU42 (which is a smaller number than it seems like I should wear, now that I think about it). I have a pair of Sidi motorcycle boots in an EU44 (US10). I have a pair of Fila, mesh, gym shoes in a US 10.5. All of my dress shoes (always slip-ons) have been 10.5, for years. Originally, I ordered a pair of TX2s. They were painfully narrow. I've never considered myself to have wide feet (I've never purchased a wide-sized shoe), but they created a lot of pressure just behind my pinky toes (both feet). Within an hour, I knew I had to return them. Now to the TX3-specific portion of the review... I read reviews that said the TX3/4 had a wider toe box, so I set up an exchange for a pair of TX3s, and they do not create pressure at the base of my pinky toe. Reviews seemed to say to order 1/2 size up, if you wanted to do more hiking and 1/2 size down if you wanted to do more climbing. I ordered a 43.5 (10.5), as I figured a mix would be normal. Unfortunately, the 10.5 was too long. My toe was outside of the surrounding rubber and pushed up on the mesh (I figured that wasn't a good idea). I ordered another TX3 in 10.0 and feel more like a climbing shoe, now (tight, all around, but not painful). Oddly enough, there is still a little bit of extra length on the 10.0. I could probably fit a 9.5, but I'm not going to try it. Hehehe... The real question, now, will be durability. But, for those with "normal" feet, the TX3/4 is a better choice than the TX2. JJ

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable and great grip My go-to hiking shoes. Been to Everest Basecamp in them and were super grippy going up the cables on Half Dome. When they started breaking up after a couple of years, I just ordered another pair! Did put Superfeet insoles in them though

Hi, I'm sorry if I did not notice it but is there anywhere in the description that states the shoe is waterproof? I have read many different reviews on people claiming that their "waterproof" shoes were in fact not that. Would anyone please write back?

Asked by: MeHerselfandI
Thanks for the question! The Men's TX3 Shoes are NOT waterproof. With that being said, if you find yourself in shallow waters, this shoe will drain. I hope this helps a little!
