The La Sportiva Men's Trango S EVO GTX Boot is an ultralight boot for alpine climbing through three seasons. While not built for the coldest of winters, when you're hitting up the mountains in spring, summer or fall, you'll be speeding your way over ice, snow and rock like a sure-footed goat. The upper is all synthetic and waterproof, so your feet stay dry and warm in the milder weather. The 3D Flex™ at the ankle makes movements easier and less stiff. The outsole features Vibram® Mulaz with Supertrek rubber for plenty of stick. When the ice is in front, grab a pair of semi-automatic crampons from your kit and continue on your quest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great boot Bought a pair for myself and also for my son. They are super light weight but still have a nice rigid feel to the sole. Going to put some nice insoles in them, as they could use some more cushion on the sole. Taking them into Boston Basin in July for some summer Alpine climbing and am sure they are going to do the trick. Great fit for my slender foot. If you have Flintstone feet, these might not be for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot for mixed mountaineering or high load packs I had to step up my boot level from the Salomon 4D GTX hiking boots (which I am absolutely enthralled with) for a rather lengthy expedition I'll be working with over the summer. I wasn't too thrilled with the thought of having to select a semi-technical boot in order to handle the load capacities which we are assigned. ,,However, I've been pleasantly surprised!,,Out of the box, these shoes were mega comfy even for a shanked boot. I'm working through the break-in process still but I've got no complaints so far to share. I love the weight and if this is your first step into mixed mountaineering or large load backpacking I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best single mountaineering shoes I had tried Scarpa, Lova and few other brands. but for 3 season, light weight and quality shoes, this will be rated above par.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great weight, super comfortable, not durable I got these for a year long trip to Iceland. I found the boots to be super comfortable, good for hiking and light mountaineering. No problems with crampons going across a glacier. Contrary to what many other reviews say, I never felt like my feet were too cold in these boots. Compared to similar boots, these felt very light weight which was a part of why they felt so comfortable when being worn all day long. The boots are terrifically water proof. Unfortunately within a couple of months of ownership one of my boots developed a tear in the fabric on the back of the boot (where the ankle meets the heel) that quickly developed into a hole all the way through. I tried taking it to La Sportiva's Icelandic representative but they said that because this model was not sold in Iceland (at that time at least) there was nothing they could do for me. Moral of the story seems to be that there are compromises (durability) when making/using a light weight boot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, versatile, but not without compromise I bought these for quick alpine trips around the pacific NW. They excel in areas where you may encounter mud, water, slush, snow, and ice all in the same day. As straight hiking boots they are capable and comfortable. As mountaineering boots they are light and just stiff enough. I haven't had a crampon pop off yet, but they have just enough flex that they are not as well suited for steep walls when compared to a heavier, hard shell boot. They also really need to be paired with gators when used in deep snow. If you want a dedicated hiking boot or a dedicated ice climbing boot, there are other better options. But if you want something that's pretty good at damn near everything, get these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great summer glacier boot These worked really well for my Olympus and Rainier summits in the summer. They feel like a hiking boot and climb like a climbing boot. I have even use d them in my snowboard bindings on the split board and love them all the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great entry level boot These are super light, barely more than some shoes, much lighter then most boots! The ankle has great flexibility and support. In the beginning the soles are extremely stiff but will gain some flexibility over time making them a solid multi-purpose boot. I use them for heavy backpacking, not much of an ascetic when I go out, I tend to take the kitchen with me or maybe its they 3L of wine :) and light mountaineering. They lock in great with my grivel g12 new-matic crampons. They are not insulated but mine have seen plenty of snow\ice and my feet have always been just fine, but that may just be me. The footbed is minimally padded.

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
