The La Sportiva Men's Trango Cube GTX Boot is a waterproof boot for mountaineering, specifically technical mixed climbing and ice climbing. The seamless, waterproof upper keeps feet dry and helps prevent leaks. The lacing system won't create wet spots, as it features direct-inject, using lace hooks on the exterior of the boot. The La Sportiva "One" outsole by Vibram drops the weight, so you're not lugging any extras up the mountain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Big, Bad, Boot What a boot. Just got off a 19 mile thruhike in the Enchantment Lakes of Washington. For 5 days straight, I was postholing through snow, standing ankle deep in alpine lakes, climbing icy rock, and laughing as I stomped through streams (sure I could have gone around) all while staying 100% dry. They held up incredibly to water, snow, dirt, and the Vibram stuck like glue to rocks in tricky boulder fields. Although described as an ice-climbing boot, I used them to handle the cold, the wet, and to support my ankles with my 55lb pack on a long hike. I definitely think they could be labeled as a "trekking" boot as well. As a climbing boot, I led a 200' pitch of 5.7 alpine trad climbing (no crampons) and was simply amazed by their performance. Being too cold for climbing shoes, I kept the Trangos on and scurried right up the peak thanks to the sticky Vibram and stiff shank. Amazing. Warm, dry, supportive but light, versatile and comfortable. Aftermarket insoles could increase comfort to 5 stars. I got a half size down from street shoe for a snug fit (I wear a single wool liner sock), but if you prefer a thick sock or double socks id recomend street size or a size up. La Sportiva tends to have a slimmer fit than that of Scarpa, so these may not be the best option for wide-footers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hunting boot I have tried on about a dozen boots. This one fits very well. A very snug fit unlike many hunting boots. Also much lighter weight than traditional full leather boots. Only downside is it isn't as tall as I'd like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Bought these boots in the highlander pattern for hunting. Let me be clear- I'm no mountain climber or hiker I was only looking for something lightweight, waterproof, and durable. Also could have bought something cheaper and it probably would've done the trick, but I happen to gravitate towards innovative products. These shoes are a work of art. Very lightweight, comfortable, and all-around a well designed product. I have been wearing them everywhere since I got them, and I'm happy with the purchase. The only problem was that I had to order several sizes larger than what I normally wear- these definitely run smaller than most footwear. As far as durability goes I can't say much because I've only had them for a week, but they seem pretty sturdily built! Would definitely recommend to anyone who would prefer to make their own path, rather than follow in someone else's.

What options do you guys recommend for crampons for this boot??

Asked by: PDXVictor
Thanks for the question! The Trango Cube GTX is rated as B2, and will require a "Semi Step-in" crampon binding. I would suggest the Grivel New Matic Crampon. I included a link below. Hope this helps! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Grivel-G12-New-Matic-Crampon-Package_10215217_10208_10000001_-1_

I saw the previous review about them running small. Can you please suggest an accurate size for me? I'm a regular size 11 narrow foot. Sheep hunting this fall so will be wearing thick socks due to no insulation on these. Thanks!

Asked by: elkie
Thanks for the question! Based on how these boots run (and your thick socks), I would go up one whole size - which is 45.5. With that being said, the Trango is slightly more rounded, and will feel a tad wide. You might be able to even go up just a half size up because you mentioned you have a narrow foot. But again, that will be determined on how much insulation you plan on wearing. It is really hard to give you an exact answer without trying them on first. Many customers in your situation will order a couple sizes so they can try on at home with their socks and compare the fit. If you decide to do that, please let me know and I will get you a FREE pre-paid UPS label. I hope this helps a little!

• La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and ADD ONE HALF SIZE.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
