Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable technical shoe Like any shoe, the Skwama takes a bit to break in, but once it does it really shines. Comfortable yet technical. Although there are some other Sportiva models that are definitely best in certain specific styles, this is a solid all arounder that can be used for most sport climbing and bouldering. It has a sensitive sole, but still edges well. The only downfall of the shoe for me is the heal isn't the best for heel hooking. Other than that, this is my main shoe for training and most outdoor climbing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing service I bought a pair of La sportiva Skwama and it’s one of the best purchases, and I would buy more from Moose Jaw, all of my packages have come on time or just on time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but not as good as the Python they replace I have had these for a month or so now. Mostly climbing and bouldering indoors and some outdoor sport on hard sandstone. Overall they are good - nice and sensitive and reasonably comfortable out of the box given what they are. You need to down size a lot - I wear a 44 hiking boot and got a 41.5 which is the size I have for my pythons that these replace. I could probably have gone down to a 41. They are nice and sensitive and good at edging and steep stuff as you would expect. My main complaint is sloppy heels. What I loved about the pythons were the sucking sensation around your feet when putting them on and the snug heel. These just don’t dilute it the same. The heels feel baggy. I got a few blisters when breaking them in which is a first for me but not a biggie.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great shoes, but... SKWAMA is a great shoe in terms its sensitivity and flexibility. However, my pair has a durability issue. One of it has a rubber upper that starts to detach from its corner, and one S-heel joint is separated from its mid rubber material. All of these happened within one week I started wearing this shoes. I don't know if this is a common thing happening to all Skwama models, but my personal impression to this model is not so durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy toe box Very soft, aggressive shoe. The heel is solid, with a rigid piece that ensures it won't bag. The toe hooking rubber is a very large patch, and sticks well. I've had La Sportiva solutions, and Scarpa instincts, and I find the toe box on these shoes too be far more comfortable. The sizing is significantly different than the other two shoes I listed, I'm a 41.5 in solutions or instincts, but size 40 for the skwamas. The strap is also much more solid than the solutions, so it won't break easily

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second pair I bought a pair of these about two years ago when they first came out. They lasted quite well, but I climb mostly indoors. I just ordered a new pair but had to exchange them to 1/2 size up from my old ones because I couldn't even get them on. (Other reviews I have seen online have mentioned that the first round were sized weirdly, and that LaSportiva has now fixed it so they are more similar to their other shoes). I wear a size 8 street shoe, my first pair was 38.0, and my new ones are 38.5. This is the first time I've bought the same shoes twice--I wouldn't go back to Evolv or Scarpa after wearing these! The cutout in the sole makes them flex nicely for smearing, the rubber is super sticky, and there's a ton of toe rubber for toe hooks. Not to mention the heel is the best I've ever worn--the Solution heel feels like a lacrosse ball taped to your foot, the Scarpa Instinct VS heels are quite thin and tear easily, but these have the perfect ratio of rubber to softness in the heel. Definitely would recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and Bad, from a female I climbed a lot in my La Sportiva Pythons and since they don't make those anymore, I opted for the Skwamas because I heard they are the next closest thing. My street shoe is a 36 and I have the 35.5 in the Pythons with the perfect amount of snug vs performance vs pain I want to endure, so I opted for the same sizing in the Skwamas. The main difference I felt was the shoe is much wider in the front portion and the rubber on top of the toe is softer which makes for a snug but more comfy fit. Being a female, I guess my foot is more narrow, but it doesn't cause my foot to swim around in the shoe but it is noticeable when I'm trying to trust a smaller foot hold indoors (haven't had a chance to take them outdoors yet). TLDR Pros: comfy but snug and secure shoe with great rubber Cons: (may be female dependent) wider fit which may also feel a little bulky

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These have it all I purchased these for my climbing son who lives in Colorado. His review is here: The toe box is nicely shaped to maximize the power. The side grips are big enough to be effective and the overall shape pushes all my movements in the right direction. Because these are worn extremely tightly it is so important to have all the details right so I can focus on the next grip and not worry if my shoes will do what I need.

I wear a 8.5 street show, can you suggest sizing for these

Asked by: Rudy
Hiya Rudy, thanks for your question! Size 8.5 is equivalent to EU size 41, but since this is a climbing show, you might want to purchase a half size to 2 full sizes smaller. There is a link to a helpful size guide located in the lower right corner of the drop down size menu. Hope this helps!

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.

La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.

La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.

Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.

Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

PERFORMANCE FIT - Offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.

TECH FIT - A more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.

COMFORT FIT - A comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.
