Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.
Leaving Moosejaw Rewards Program:
You may choose to leave the Moosejaw Rewards program at any time by logging in and clicking on the “Opt out Rewards Program” link within the My Account Summary page, Email, calling 877-MOOSEJAW (877-666-7352) or in-store with help from our employees. If you leave the rewards program, any unused MJ$ will be voided upon completion of your request.
Earning MJ$:
All items we sell are eligible with the exception of gift cards or other items specifically noted. Full-priced items earn 10% back while discounted items earn 2.5%. "Discounted items" includes items on sale or discounted via coupon code or use of MJ$. You do not earn MJ$ for shipping or tax charges, only from the item value. MJ$ expire two years after earning and are redeemed on a first-in, first out basis (in other words, we always use your oldest MJ$ that are closest to expiration).
Checking & Redeeming MJ$:
On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. In stores, provide the email address attached to your account to learn your balance and apply to your purchase. We will also send you a monthly email that details your balance and other account activity. This is a transactional email that you will receive even if you are not subscribed to our marketing emails.
Bonus Rewards Promotions:
Every so often, we'll have special offers where you can earn bonus MJ$, like an additional 10%, 20% or 40% back. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. MJ$ on Gift Cards:

Product Returns and MJ$:
If you return an item, we deduct the MJ$ earned on that item from your balance. If you used the MJ$ and your balance is less than deduction, then your refund is reduced by the difference.

Where have these been all my life?!I’m a 45 year old lineman. Turned on to these by some younger mine hands. Climbed a 60 and over a Hughes arm a week after I got them. Never been so comfortable climbing in my career. They’re awesome. Take some time to break in, but great boots overall.

Good for glacial moraineThese boots are great for rocky hikes, especially scree and perfect for crampons. The only downside is that they take particularly long to break in and are rather heavy and stiff. They are very popular boots for us glacier and mountaineering guides in Wrangell-St. Elias!
I am a lineman. I climb power poles. need a boot that is waterproof, steal shank all the way across, and has a steal or composite toe. I heard a lot of good things about your boots and hoping you can help me find the right boot. Thanks Jeff

I am trying to find a winter mountaineering boot (preferably with insulated liner) that is compatable for use with strap-on crampons. What can you suggest?

Howdy Abel,
I'd recommend looking into the Nepal Evo or the Nepal Cube. They are a very versatile, insulated mountaineering boot, that will accept both automatic/step-in crampons as well as strap-on/universal crampons. Personally I've used the Nepal Cubes as my do it all boot for the last few years. From mountaineering in the Andes, ice climbing, winter hiking in frigid temps, or just shoveling my driveway, I'm a big fan. Another option to look into is the Trango Tech Extreme, it features similar insulation to the Nepals but with a lower cuff and different fit profile. Hey there, thanks for the question! These boots are standard medium width, they are simply listed by EU sizing. La Sportiva recommends that you find your corresponding EU size to your standard US shoe size, then go up one half EU size. Unfortunately we do not carry Kenetrek boots, so I cannot comment on how the size compares. I hope this helps!

Are these good all season boots or more for the cold?

Thanks for reaching out! The Makalu is a traditional mountaineering boot. Since it does not offer any type of insulation, I wouldn't recommend wearing it in extreme cold. I hope this helps!

What kind of waterproofing should I use on these boots? I have heard Nikwax but just wanted to hear another opinion.

Hiya Rick, thanks for your question! There are generic brands like Scotchgard and KIWI on the market. At the moment, we only carry Nikwax and Ugg waterproofing products.
I personally prefer Nikwax waterproofing products.... they're lightweight, breathable and they don't leave a tacky film. Additionally, the Nikwax company has made a commitment to protecting our environment. Bonus!

Thanks for reaching out! The Makalu Boot is a popular choice among lineman, hunters, mountain climbers, and even teachers! It was designed for general mountaineering and heavy backpacking. YES, this boot is suitable for trekking from basecamp to summit. I would also consider a boot that features Gore-Tex. My recommendation is the La Sportiva Men's Trango Tech GTX Boot. LA SPORTIVA SIZE and FIT NOTES • La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit. • Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and ADD ONE HALF SIZE. • The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch. • If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use. • It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses. • Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit. • Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose. • Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes. • If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you. • If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up. • Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
