Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Comfy! This is my second pair of these boots. Wore the first pair out after two years. If you plan on fighting fire in these boots then don't spend a lot of time in the duff. The Glue holding the soles on will melt. Other than that these are some of the best boots I have ever used for wildland firefighting.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from heavy and hot this is my first pair of the new design of the glacier WLF. I have two pairs of the older style with the rubber toe rand. They are excellent boots. many seasons of fire effects monitoring, Trail surveys, and wilderness patrols. The current iteration has some definite flaws, these boots are heavier than their prdecessor. they lack the toe rand that made these boots so ideal for a variety of terrains, conditions, and tasks. the new sole seems clunky, and the lining is just way to plush, my feet begin to sweat immediately and the liner just seems hot. The secondary "removable tongue" is not well designed either. La sportiva started marketing these boots to wildland fire personel, because a lot of us started to use the older iteration for wildland fire tasks. These boots are not NWCG NFPA Compliant, these will not pass muster if you are on a hand crew or direct line work. they do not meet NFPA standards for fire footwear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW ! Finally a boot that works Purchased a pair for work with US Forest Service. Not direct fireline boots. But after 21 day fire assignment I love them! Amazing traction. Size runs a bit small. Order 1/2 to 1 size larger, Inwire light silk liners and wool blend outer socks. Love them so far

Rated 4 out of 5 by from About review on break in Mountaineering boots don't ever break in. Define them as foot protection. You "know" how to use them with, if needed, moleskin, etc.and heavy socks. Get experience by the mile or years. Enjoy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't Break-In I tried my best to break in these boots, but to no avail. I wasted $250 and now the boots just collect dust. If you've had success breaking in rugged boots then you experience might be different. The heel part of the boot is not cushioned at all. It's just hard and thick and ready to rip your heel apart.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly made boot. I did a 20 mile backpack trip with these and the cloth lace eye popped off half way through the trip. I had done minimal around the house tromping in them to break them in prior - that's it. The eye on my boots was made of fabric (it looks like they have replaced it with a metal on the picture). Couldn't believe they fell apart in the break in period. I'd had them stored in a cool dry area for a while before use - so no return. Very solid in the hand. Very brittle in use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deceptively marketed I'm little skeptical of how long this boot will last. After only 40 miles, the sole is starting to delaminate from the boot and if I try to get the boots decently tight the rings for the laces at the ankle pop out. I'm a sawyer on a hotshot firefighting crew and originally I bought these as a possible replacement to my Lowa's since the Glaciers are "WLF boots." It seems weird they label them WLF then proceed to say they're not meant for frontline firefighting or being exposed to heat. If you have anything to do with wildland fire, I'd recommend avoiding these boots. ,,Pros: The boot is comfortable and it does feel good after long sidehills or steep downhills. I also like the adjustable tongue. I can adjust it to put even pressure on the top of my foot which adds to the comfort level in steep descents. Overall it seems to be a decent boot for the price, just not a boot I'd ever use for work.

• La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and ADD ONE HALF SIZE.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
