Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and light! Pretty neat little filter, gets the job done. It gets the job done slowly... but it works. I mean, it doesn't mean the filter is bad, it just isn't designed to move that much water because it's built to be small and compact. Expect to be chillin for a little while to fill a bladder. I smash mine down into the top of my bag, it's super nice that the hose packs inside the handle so I don't have to wrangle that thing all over the place. I got this as an ultralight over night filter and have been using it on multi day backpacking trips. It's way easier to pack into a bag than the Hiker, or Hiker Pro. If you want a smaller lighter filter this is great, you get the same clean, safe, good tasting water. Pro tips: Fill up a bottle from the water source and filter from the bottle, makes the whole process easier and you get less sediment in your filter. Also, pull your filter out and wipe off the sides, it's gets kinda gunky after filtering a few times, when this happens it's a lot harder to pump.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great water filter; sets the standard. I have used Katadyn filters for over 20 years now. After living in the arctic for two years there was water water everywhere but not a drop to drink in many a Yup'ik Eskimo village, This exact style filter was always in my pocket ready to get me hydrated. Sure, there are easier to use products but try bringing them in to frozen territory. One hint, most of the gravity type filters will explode under -40 weather due to water left behind in their capillary system. The ceramic filters just don't do this. But, in all honesty, for warmer climes I usually bring a gravity system with this as a backup. So buy it, keep it in your pocket and forget about it until you need it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Time to enjoy the scenery I have used this filter on several backpacking trips. It does the job, even on a trip with my wife in the Sierras it provided plenty of water. It cleans easily, light weight, good clear water as opposed to chemical methods and steripen. Only problem is I got leg cramps by the time I was finished filling two liters of water...it's slow. At least I had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.

What type of plastic is this made of? No PCB?

Asked by: Sing
Thanks for the question! The Mini Ceramic Microfilter is made of plastic, silicone, & ceramic. Katadyn does not state that it is PCB free. Please don't hate me.
