The Julbo Sherpa Sunglasses are mountaineering sunglasses for eye protection high up on the mountains. Classic styling with leather side shields, your peripheral vision won't be damaged while the front lenses work as little windows to view beautiful horizons from high points. Stay-put temples are curved and won't become a bother under hat or helmet. Not only are the lenses shatter-resistant in case some ice or rock comes your way, but the price on these babies aren't so bad on the wallet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sunglasses. Wore these to paddle while in NC. The glare was extreme but the glasses did the trick. As usual great service and price from Moosejaw!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for recreation, not for driving. Picked these up late last summer, 6 months ago now. Work great kayaking, in the snow, or (most) any other time you need sunglasses. I have longer than average eyelashes for a guy and no issues with them hugging too close. They block a massive amount of light but not too dark. Leave a slight yellowish hue that actually increases contrast a bit. There are some gaps between the frame and side shields. Some working with them will minimize, but I don't think zero will ever happen.,,,,I saw other reviews mention they were not for driving. I thought it was due to being too dark, but that is not the case at all, they are perfectly usable in even cloudy days with plenty of light through, the issue is you have ZERO peripheral vision. Put your ring finger next to the outside corner of your eye with pinky in front, that's what they block out. Changing lanes becomes dangerous, don't wear these when driving, or biking or possibly boating/jet ski even.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid glasses I've had these glasses for about a year and have used them for six high peaks (5,700m and above). The glasses are great for the following reasons, because they: ,,- reduce glare enormously and leave my eyes feeling fresh and unstrained even on bluebird days; ,,- don't darken too much such that I can wear them from when it is barely light or also on cloudy days without loss of visibility;,,- don't fog up.,,,,Slight downsides: they seem to slip down on me a bit (some adjustment may be necessary), and also the round (rather than oblong) earpieces tend to press when under helmet and balaklava and buff.,,,,All in all, they do what they gotta do, they look kinda cool (except my climbing partner has some serious vintage glaciar glasses, so he wins), and if you accidentally step on them or they fall off the mountain, you won't be out a month's wages.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the money I really like the goggle-like look and feel of these, sort of outdoorsy-steampunk. The only complaint I have is that the upper tip of the left blinder sticks up slightly; not a big deal, it just looks a bit funky. I think it was a flaw with this particular pair, and may not affect others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good glacier goggles for the money So, I used these for a bit of ice climbing and mountaineering, and they worked well for me. The ear hooks keep them secure on my face, and they have a nice dark tint which helps a lot when you are out on the ice during the day. Also, the side panels are nice to guard from light, but seem breathable. Overall the glasses seem pretty breathable as they fog less than similar ones I have. I do not love the nosepiece, and wish it was easily moldable. They seem to fit other people just as well as they fit me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great sunglasses loose fit can be fixed! I recently purchased the sherpas. From other reviews I gathered that they fit a little loose on some people. I have an average sized head and the length of the hooked temples were a little long, making them too loose and floppy on my face (especially with the shrouds attached). I took them to my local spectacle shop and they were able to shorten the length so that they now fit snug. Don't be put off by the fit issues if you're willing to go have some inexpensive adjustments made. Their durability has yet to be proven but at the price, what the hey, they seem durable enough. I'm also going to have RX lenses put in them. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thumbs Up! Can't go wrong with these, especially for the price. Definately would buy again. Not quite the same as General O' Neill wears, but totally work for your next SG-1 party.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No matter what, they're going to fall apart. I work at a wolf sanctuary in New Mexico and these things made working outdoors in the high sun and snow a little more tolerable. At least I could see. Unfortunately, unless you keep them in their hard case, those little side shields are going to snap right off and you'll end up with funny little things dangling off the side of your head. ,,,,They were broken even before a wolf stole them and chewed on them till I couldn't see out the right lens.
