Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm rain coat This jacket is really great. Nicely styled and fitted. The bust area is a bit tight so I purchased a size larger. I saw this coat in Iceland and thought I would shop in the US

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Coat So Far, But.. I just received this coat two days ago, so I can't review it on how it wears. I will review it on a few other details. It is a beautiful coat, that looks like it will stand up to a lot of wear. It has a lot of pockets, and is a decent length for me. I got a size L, because I'm 5'7 and 150 lbs. Here is why I have not taken the tags off of it yet. If you want to be a walking billboard for Ilse Jacobsen then this is the coat for you. I don't mind if the designer/manufacturer's name is on the item once, but this name is on the coat at least 12 times. I stopped counting at 12. I kid you not. It's on every pull, on the inside pockets, everywhere. The name is mostly on the inside, but come on! I'm sure they are proud of the coat, but do you have it written on the garment so many times? I might keep it, because it has been difficult for me to find a water repellant coat. There are water resistant coats out there, but I need water repellant for standing at my uncovered bus stop.

Is this coat waterproof?  What is the difference between water repellant and waterproof?  Is it the right coat for 45-60 degrees (F)?

Asked by: Laura
Hi there, Thanks for your question! This coat is water repellent due to it being treated with Teflon Shield + Fabric Protector (repels water, oil and stains, and dries quicker; durable). The difference between water repellent and waterproof is that water repellent gear is not easily penetrated by water, especially as a result of being treated for such a purpose with a surface coating. Gear is classified as waterproof when it is impervious to water. This coat would be suited for 45-60 degree weather. It is lined with a comfy fleece material, and the outer shell holds body heat in. Hope this helps!

Is the smallest size 4? How do find the right size?

Asked by: Françoise
Hey there, thanks for the question! Yes, size 4 is the smallest size. You can find the size chart at the link below. Size 4 is for a 33" chest, 26" waist and 36" hip. I hope this helps! https://www.ilsejacobsen.com/media/catalog/category/size_guide_48.jpg

Product specs say waterproof and windproof, but in one of the responses it says coat is water repellant.  Can you clarify? Thanks!

Asked by: royals75
Hey, Royals! So, waterproof is in the eye of PSI! Many rainwear fabrics are marketed with manufacturer waterproof ratings of 5,000mm, 10,000mm, 20,000mm, etc. What that means is, any and all breathable fabric will have a failure when water pressure (think that hard, torrential, wind driven rain) actually has enough brute force to break through the pores on the jacket. Typical around town rain jackets have a rating of 2000mm. This jacket (the Rain07) has a rating of 5000mm which is your minimum rating you would want for mountain traversing, etc. If you are looking for a raincoat to wear around town, in and out of buildings, the 5000mm rating is pretty darn durable. Plus the taped seams add even more barriers between you and the rain!

What is the sleeve length of the size 8 and size 10?

Asked by: I am tall
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Did you know I just had a question about sleeve lengths on a vest? Darn kids these days....Anywhooo...I pulled these from our warehouse and measured both sleeves. There is no difference in the sleeve length. The sleeve length will be about 24" for size 6, 8 or 10. So, then, I measured the back lengths, because I wanted to give you some idea of the difference in the jacket. From the hood seam center down to split at the bottom, the 6 will be 22.75", the 8 - 23.5" and the 10 - 24.5". Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.

Is this considered a packable coat for travel?

Hiya Lucy, thanks for your question! This jacket is an excellent option for travel. It is thin yet it has a soft fleece lining for chillier temperatures. Hope this helps!
