I remembered some bits from 7th grade about osmosis, but I couldn't remember the true science-y facts - all I remember was cells of some sort would move from one space to another space by going through a membrane. Kind of like how kittens can somehow fit their big bodies through the smallest crack under a door, right? Is that osmosis?
Anyway, I tried to will the liquid out of this hydroflask for one week with just pure, stubborn determination and the malformed idea of osmosis. It did not work in any way shape or form. So, yes, I did indeed end up having to uncrew the lid and drink out of it that way. It was.. weird and totally not intuitive so I left my vessel in the corner of my desk.
But, one of my more knowledgeable co-workers informed me of an ingenious, inventive offering from Hydroflask. A 32 ounce wide mouthed version with a lid that has a straw! You can find that here: https://bit.ly/2N5IZlO
And - in case you mistakenly bought the flask with the lid you have to unscrew - you can buy just the lid that has the straw and replace the other, lesser lid with it. You can find that lid here: https://bit.ly/2lCAbqV
But I recommend the lid that just unceremoniously unscrews and just acts as a lid. That way - you, too, can work on your mind-over-matter jedi tricks and see if you can absorb the water through pure osmosis or magic or some supernatural, cosmic intervention - but in case you can't - go with the lid with the straw.
